"Wal-Mart entered into an agreement in 2008 with the Mayors Against Illegal Guns that included video recording of purchases and the use of databases to identify people who have bought guns recovered in crimes."

Confiscation worrying you? We have a lot of legal roadblocks before they remove the 2nd amendment.

Or is there a different thing bothering you man?

Everyone needs to stop using logic & common sense:) Outside of the video taping, did everyone forget that piece of paper called a 4473.

I have never bought a gun from walmart but can someone explain to me how.this might reduce gun violence? Lots of reactive ideas but none that will actually work.

Of course they have to keep the 4473, anyone involved with guns knows that.

"use of databases to identify people"

No tin-foil hats here, just posting the info for you to digest and form your own opinion.

Saving the 4473 is quite a bit different than data-basing all your data until the end of the world. I suppose they could be imaging the forms and indexing it to the purchase.

Do you think your 2A supportive LGS is going to computerize and db index all those forms, let alone hand them over to the blue hats when they come knocking?

What is the difference between this and a gun store with security cameras helping police? I'm with Ray on this. The idea is clearly to help catch people who commit crimes, and not a deterent to committing crimes.

Some store scan all 4473 after the transfer is complete and some stores( bass pro)use a digital version of the 4473.
I worked at a store that save security camera video for years, helps in court, catching shop litters who steal multiply times and corporate fraud too.
We live in a digital age.

Mmmmmmm if a LGS wants to remain in business they comply with the ATF on a yearly basis, if not more depending on any "issues", such as a gun or 2 from the same store used to commit crimes etc.

Not with obama's penchant for Executive Orders to circumvent congress or the Constitution...like the dictator he is.

Wal-Mart isn't where I buy guns. Or anything.

Wal-Mart is where I go to eat bad nachos and watch morbidly-obese women beat their children.

Hand them over when the blue hats come knocking? ( I assume blue hats are the cops..) huh you mean they will comply with the law?? how dare they !!!!

You don;t think the "reporter" took a bit of artistic license and embellished the " database" .. or you are doing that in your own mind?.. what is a collection of paperwork with names and dates on them ( also know as data from the sale) .. oh I dunno .. a lot of folks call it .... A DATABASE!!!!!!!

I never said anything about FFL not complying with the BATF or local LE.

I never said anything about being a crook or worried about confiscation and am offended that anyone imply so.

I see it's OK for many others to talk about "accidental" fires in LGS records in other threads, but I mention blue hats and everyone freaks the fuck out.

P.S. If you don't know what a blue hat is, STFU. [facepalm]

So how exactly .. would walmart be doing something nefarious that every other gun store is doing???

Granted I feel a LOT of mysterious fires would start in mom and pop gun stores if the UN rolled in looking for records.... but come on man .. stop acting like walmart is doing something unusual ...
]

And sure the corp gun stores are all gunna fall in line so to speak .. not just wally world.. but Dicks and bass pro and cabelas.... and and and this list can go on and on ..
