All,

Who makes good AK mags at a decent price? I dont want to spend an arm and a leg...

What are your thoughts on Tapco mags and as far as metal mags go, who makes well priced mags.

Thanks!

Tapcos work and meet 3 922 comp parts. As far as surplus ak mags, they all work for me. I'm not a kalishnasnob like some other members who shall remain nameless rachael ,bobbyz, brydor.
I don't care if it was 1 of 200 made in the bumfuk plant in outer mongolia. The all work. Some fit tighter than others, some do not lock up, when that happens you file th etop of the mag catch, ever so lightly until they do.
Regarding "well priced?" what ever that means. Right now i'd be more concerned with availability than price. There's this thing about to happen, called another AWB, tougher gun laws screwing the Constitution in to the ground etc. Buy what you can now, If it's tapco mags buy them. The down side to the tapcos is they are not metal reinforced in the locking lug area. Other than that the 4-5 i have are GTG.

I have wide variety from cheap to moderately cheap. They all work. Never had an issue yet. They all fit and any AK should function with them since they are not a super tight weapon.
Just ask any pirate in Somalia!
Get what you can while they are focused on PMAGS out there.

Thanks for the recognition Jim ;)

Like jim said Tapcos are 922 and may need a bit of fitting to your weapon.Bottom line is they work.
Steel european surplus mags are the way to go to.Their indestructable even if you run over them-don't ask....[Coffee]
As far as a good reasonable price- I wouldn't pay over $20 for a steel mag and thats for a minty one..But now most vendors are sold out because of the panic...
Give it time and wait to see what happens before going into an I gotta have just because frenzy....

Steel is the way to go if you can get them. Every Tapco I have had I had to do a little filing, tweaking to get it to work.

I absolutely love the US Palm mags. To me it feels like I'm placing a mag in an AR. They fit nice and snug in my Arsenal and there is no rattle. People bust on them but personally I've beat the hell out of those things without one problem. I think the only AK mags I haven't used are the Bulgy Waffles and those brown Bakelite ones. I would easily rate these as the best I've personally ever used. Of course now it's pretty much a non- issue with the chances of finding them at zero.

Tapco mags break at the feed lips. Go with steel, I've had good luck with Korean steel mags.

I prefer Tapcos. They fit and function perfectly in my MAC-90, while I've personally come across some bad steel ones. Also none of my steel ones fit as nice & tight as all my Tapcos do.
