I have sent this message via email to both of the Colorado senators Bennet and Udall. I hope it helps, and I think we ALL need to do something/anything to get them aware of how we all feel about banning assault rifles that we all love for legal uses. If you want to copy it please feel free. I know it's not the best but it is short and succinct. And there are better out there, but it is what I sent. Here it is:

Senator Bennet, in light of the recent event in Connecticut, I want you to understand my opinion on this issue. The NRA suggested a VERY rational fix to the problem of the "lone gunman syndrome". You cannot legislate morality and by banning a weapon used by the "lone gunman" you deprive the law abiding citizens of the country, freedom. The freedom to own the weapon of their choice. If the lone gunman wants to put his/her agenda, to kill innocent children into play, the idea that a certain type of gun is banned will not make any difference to that person. To begin with "murder" is illegal, what makes anyone think that a ban on any type of gun will make him/her say to themselves, "What was I thinking, it's illegal to buy an assault weapon, I can't murder them using this banned gun, I have to rethink my plan". I own an AR-15 and am fully legal in all senses, I have a CCW permit and respect the laws of the land. I am asking you to please not vote for or approve any type of ban of this weapon or ammunition. We need better mental health care in this state and country, not more controls of the law abiding citizens. please think rationally, not knee jerk.

Thank You for Your Time,

Robert

I have modified your letter and sending this once a day to the Senators and my House Rep

Dear Mr. Senator or Representative
In light of the recent event in Connecticut, I want you to understand my opinion on this issue. The NRA suggested a VERY rational fix to the problem of the "lone gunman syndrome".
You cannot legislate morality and by banning a weapon used by the "lone gunman" you deprive the law abiding citizens of this country, the freedom the freedom to own the weapon of their choice.
If the lone gunman wants to put his/her agenda, to kill innocent children into play, the idea that a certain type of gun is banned will not make any difference to that person.
Criminals have no regard for laws and will obtain any kind of weapon they desire. To begin with "murder" is illegal, what makes anyone think that a ban on any type of gun will
make him/her say to themselves, "What was I thinking, it's illegal to buy an assault weapon, I can't murder them using this banned gun, I have to rethink my plan".

If you choose to support and vote for any kind of ban on any type of firearm or multiple types of firearms, I will do what I am capable of in campaigning and supporting your opponent in the next election cycle.
I will donate money to their campaign and actively work to ensure their campaign is successful. If you decide to abide by the 2nd Amendment and not restrict law abiding citizens rights,
I will vote, campaign and donate to your campaign and show you my support since to me you would have done the right thing as far as law abiding citizens rights are concerned.

Thank You for Your Time,

Mr. DD977GM2

You need to remind them that:
They work for you.
They took an oath to abide by the Constitution.

Yep, had 2 paragraphs in mine on the constutution.

Amazing that the "people speak" they want to smoke pot, and the politicians listen. But when the "people speak" we want to keep our guns, the politicinas know better than us. Reminded Hicky of that in a separate letter.
