I wonder how many people are maxing out there credit cards buying all this stuff...and then going to file bancruptcy on them, because you know it all got lost in a horrible boating accident. Lol it was 10,132 here about 20 minutes ago, the checks from early wed are just coming back. Its really amazing.

well yeah I get that part ..

so at the end of the 3 working days they just have to hand you the gun right ?

will they run the 4473 later or do they have to throw them out ?

if they do run them after and a prohibited person got a gun will they go knocking on doors to arrest em ?

I'm sure some of this is unknown because I don't think this has ever happened before ....

No...it's from the time the FFL receives a "Delayed" response from NICS. Once that happens, the 3 day clock starts running on the following day.

Q: What steps must be followed by an FFL prior to transferring a firearm subject to the requirements of the Brady law? The following steps must be followed prior to transferring a firearm:

The licensee must have the transferee complete and sign ATF Form 4473, Firearms Transaction Record.
The licensee must verify the identity of the transferee through a government-issued photo identification.
The licensee must contact NICS through either the FBI or a State point of contact (POC). The licensee initially will get either a “proceed” or “delayed” response from NICS. If the licensee gets a “proceed” response, the firearm may be transferred if there is no additional State waiting period. If the licensee gets a “delayed response” it indicates the transaction is in “open” status and that more research is required prior to a NICS “proceed” or “denied” response. If the licensee gets a “delayed” response and there is no additional response from the FBI or POC, the licensee may transfer the firearm after 3 business days have elapsed. Of course, the licensee must still comply with any waiting period requirements under State law. FFLs contacting the FBI directly will receive information from the FBI indicating when the 3 business days time period elapses on “delayed” transactions.

AH I should have read that a bit better...

so you could sit in the que for "weeks" before they even give the delayed response correct ?

CBI cannot speculate on the reasoning behind this weekend’s surge as staff simply processes the requests, and has no interaction with customers.

sounds to me like CBI is acknowledging it but will not give any comments on the cause. That is perfectly fine, they are there to run checks not make political statements. Anyone with 2 brain cells to knows why there was a surge.

Anyway, it is a compelling statement if these are new people getting guns. Some regular on this site running out & getting their Nth AR is not a big statement. Too bad there is no real way to know for sure. I do know that one person asked me where to get a lower (his first) and asked about his 10-22 mags, this is not all repeat purchasers.

Adding trillions to the debt, high unemployment, etc. used to be political suicide as well. Yet, those fools all got voted back. I think their memories are too short to remember what happened after 94. They will do it again.

And after the ban in Australia happened, what happened to their crime rate? Yeah, if only politicians knew that here we could multiply that number by 100.

So question, you think if I did a BGC today I'd be G2G by Saturday afternoon?

Just saying that 70% of their citizen all the sudden had boat accident etc and lost their firearms... I imagine if it happened here small riot will break out and 99% of weapons are lost in the following mass boat accident.

My brother ran into a similar issue today- he ordered his new Nighthawk GRP about 3 weeks ago, had them put new Hiney sights on it, then they shipped it last Wednesday (FFL transfer to 5280). That same Wed. he went in and got his BGC done (completed Friday afternoon), gun arrived Friday, he went in Sun to get it, they said it hadn't arrived. He called Nighthawk on Mon, got confirmation that it shipped and was signed for on Friday. Went in today to pick it up, they said they haven't logged or inventoried arrivals from Fri yet, they'll call when he can come in and pick up his already paid for gun... He's pissed. The gun is there, the check is complete, but because of this panic rush he can't get it until they get to it... I call bullshit. Seriously, this whole crap needs to end soon.

Walmart calls in their checks. I bought a rifle from them and the gal had to sit there at the counter on the phone(on hold) for about 45 minutes. This was in the pre-panic buying days. Seems pretty inefficient(for them) but if they are getting it done faster than online checks, might be the way to go.
