feel uncomfortably naked (no no no, without gun you sickos)
sweats, t shirt, etc
ankle holster???????????
ideas, thoughts, what works what doesn't
In gym bag somewhere nearby.
I take mine into the gym all the time in my gym bag. Idk about working out carrying though. I think that'd be very uncomfortable and hard to conceal unless you are wearing lots of baggy clothes. Even then still uncomfortable. What if you're benching and have your gun iwb and it pinches your sack and you drop the barbell on your neck? [mop]

Dare I ask what kind of huge sac you have where this is a possibility?

It's about the one and only time I've ever used a fanny pack.
I also keep meaning to buy a belly band for the same thing.
Or, you could leave the gun in your locker. If bad evil people come to your gym, just huck a kettlebell at them. 24 Kg of Russian goodness right upside a bad guy's schnozz will adjust his thought processes.

LOL! My G23 seems to do that to me alot when I'm sitting and carrying IWB. Not a huge sack just the placement I guess. Hey it can happen!
with all joking aside I think IWB or any other way but an ankle holster wouldn't work out the best imo. The only think I see wrong with an ankle holster is on leg day when you want to do leg extentions, leg curls or toe raises sitting. I could be wrong but I know my CC setup wouldn't be so comfortable for me on my regular work outs so I leave it in the gym bag.

man, I can barely keep my sweats on with a wallet and keys in them (as I walk to the locker room) there is NFW that hanging a 1.5-2lb gun off of them is going to work.
Leave it close by...there are other weapons that you don't have to conceal in a gym.

Lots of guys in the gym use notebooks to track their workouts day to day. If you stuck something thin in a leather day planner and kept it with you it wouldn't look out of place.
What is this "gym" of which you speak?
belly band or one of the dayplanner holsters

I just carry like I do everywhere else.
Just wear two t-shirts (one under gun, one over).
So far nobody has said anything about it.
If you're worried about sweat, just wipe the gun down with a oiled cloth when you get home.
Do NOT trust a gym locker ... those get broken into all the time even at "nice" gyms.

I work out at work.... If someone comes into my gym shooting there isn't any chance.

Everytime I am in the gym i have my Ruger .380, it pulls on the pocket of my sweats. I thought about leaving it in the locker but what good would it do if your trying to get to your gun and it is locked? I do need an alternative, ankle band doesn't seem the answer as your sweats will raise up and expose it. Belly band maybe?

If I had something the size of an LCP, I may consider carrying, but with my Glock 27 being my carry, it's not really feasible in my opinion. I do carry a knife, which leads me too my other issue with gym carry, the place gets packed at times, and I don't know that I'd be able to take a safe shot if I wanted to.
What do you guys do at the pool? I leave it in the locker.

So who's going to make a SOBC (small of the butt crack) holster? There's obviously a market.

My gym doesn't have a pool.
All I do at the gym is cardio warm-up and then hit the weights ... all of which can be done with an IWB holster on.

I don't carry too much when I go work out. If I am it's typically just my LCP in a pocket or .38 snub in my coat. I lock them up in a locker and just go about my routine unarmed. With the amount of running/cardio I do sometimes, I don't think having a gun on me would even be possible. I have a friend who just carries a fanny pack around while in the gym. Doesn't look too out of place, and lets you have a full-size pistol close by. He mentioned how it's good for treadmills and the like too, because you can just hook it over the bars.

Just picked up a cheap belly band on amazon, planning to use it for running outdoors, however I'm going to use it for the first time at the gym today. A mile warm up run/ chest day / then a couple more miles. So far It's quite comfortable.

how about a lanyard around the neck down the shirt? like those douche bags put their keys on lol
Unless it's gang-on-gang, or robbery, I'm not sure how many incidents would require my carrying. Or, put another way, if I'm working out in gym shorts and a t-shirt, I don't have much that's of interest to any particular bad guy unless he needs some sweaty gym shorts at which point, he/she is welcome to them, enjoy!
To some extent, this reminds me of a thread on another board in which a person asked the best way to carry in swim trunks.

I normally share your sentiments on gym carry, but purchased the belly band for outdoor running. After using it today, I may start using it at the gym all the time, no real reason not too. I'll still keep my stance on the fact that if faced with a threat in the gym, the chances of having a "good shoot" opportunity are slim, with the number of folks in the area.

We don't carry guns based on odds. Odds are you will never need it. It's that one in a million instance that we prepare for. If you are going to carry anywhere, you might as well carry everywhere.
Pretty sure I'll get shot at for this (pun intended) but how can you be so paranoid that you would need to carry in a gym? Isn't everyone wearing gym shorts or workout cloths? Seems like you could spot the guy with a firearm. Hell you can see ther junk.

You protect your family and yourself as you see fit, and I'll do the same. That's about the only response you will get out of me.

I was reading, a few months ago, on a running forum about this same issue. Someone mentioned smart carry: http://www.smartcarry.com/ . Is this the same as the belly band a lot of you mentioned? I wish I could carry in the gym, but my gun is too big and heavy (Taurus PT145). I do want to get a Walther PPK or P99. It's been highly tested through a multitude of workouts and stunts in many James Bond movies! So it should be fine in the gym.
I thought the point of carrying a gun, was so you didn't have to spend time in the gym.

After testing out the belly band method of carrying, and not liking it, I've turned to another method. On cardio days I normally bring my 5.11 Moab pack with me, and set it next to the treadmill, and go on about my workout.
When out on the gym floor, I feel like taking the 5.11 pack with me screams tactical, or CCW. I have noticed many of the under armour "sack" type bags out on the floor, so I said what the hell, and picked one up.
I knew right away that I'd have to modify it to carry my G26 safe and secure, so I picked up a cheap Blackhawk holster from Wal-Mart, backed it with some industrial Velcro, an viola!

The bag is very comfortable to wear, and quite discreet. I've got a little one on the way, and I think I've just found my new diaper bag!

Not a bad idea!
I carry in a SmartCarry every day and love it. I've ran with it on, done just about every form of physical exercise, including hand stands, with mild to no interference.
I think here you have to settle for keeping it in the bag, just too difficult to carry with gym ware and bouncy motion.

Huh, so does smartcarry really not rub or bounce? That impresses me.

It might bounce a small bit. Hardly anything though. As far as rubbing, I don't like wearing it with knit boxers. Boxer-briefs are best. It's all about finding the right positioning. But for me and my needs, I really think it's the best holster option for me.
