I have been going on Armslist and just for fun I have been flagging the adverts for the modern sporting rifles as over priced (only if they are though).

Why? And what are you basing your opinions on?

Prob flagged my over priced lower... But hey I sold my BCGs for $275 on there

Why not? My opinion is just as good as anybody else and in my opinion a Colt that three weeks ago was selling for $949 is now priced at $3100, I will flag it as over priced. This is still America and I am allowed to think how I like and voice my opinion as I like. There is a button to flag as over priced so I used the tools available to me to voice my opinion.

This is fun! I'm having fun!

So, basically you are harassing folks and disrupting their personal business and calling it "your opinion" aka: "free speech?" Or am I missing something here. :)

ChunkyMonkey
12-22-2012, 23:58
Sigh.. some folks love to intervene in other businesses just 'for fun.' This is no difference from asking the big brother to intervene in the free market - such as what's happening to the gun market.

This is not fun at all, but I have been writing emails and letters to our reps to address the real issue. Try it since you have free time, maybe one more voice can make a difference - a real difference for a change.

Nothing is over priced, the demand is 200 times higher then supply and their may never be another supply so who is to say what the value is? Yes a few weeks ago they may have been $1k but they were available at any gun store with only a few minute wait time. Now you either have or you dont have kind of like a 63 corvette, if someone is trying to sell one for more then it cost in 1963 would you flag their ad to?

IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T BEEN FOLLOWING THE EVENTS OF THE PAST WEEK... THE SHORT TERM GUN MARKET FOR CERTAIN ITEMS IS CHANGING DRASTICALLY.

Are you also one to call CPS on parents who spank their children because you don't and think it's funny they'll get harassed for no other reason than you don't think it's right? Don't answer that, I don't want to know.

I send emails and write letters nearly weekly. I volunteer my time when I can.

If want to sell your item for X price and someone will pay X price, more power to you. I appreciate the capitalistic system and I participate in it daily. I see nothing wrong with using the tools available to make a point. It's my point. You are stating yours and that is what makes America great.

Hugs and kisses all around.

You're a [pileoshit] in my opinion. If you don't like the price, move on. You're dis-respectful. I for one need the money to make it through the winter until the business I work for picks back up again in spring. It's been a rough year for a lot of us. My wife and roommate both lost their jobs in the last 2 weeks. Unless your fucking opinion is gonna pay my rent for the next 3 months, it'd be nice if you would back the fuck off. Merry Christmas!

bryjcom
12-23-2012, 00:54
If you really want to spend energy driving the cost down of items then you should focus on writing, calling, faxing, harrassing and in any other way possible, bothering your congress and senate critters, telling them they better NOT support any new gun legislation..

That would be time better spent, than tattling on people who are taking advantage of an opportunity presented to themselves.

I love you WC, but you're just pissing up a tree by flagging.

The market has changed dramatically in the past few weeks, what was once worth $1000 is now worth double that. If people are buying them up like hotcakes, are they really overpriced?

Supply and demand are the rules of the day. Those who have supply can set whatever prices they want.

Yeah, God forbid someone actually take advantage of the current market, and get ahead, or provide a better Christmas for the kids. It's the OP's right to have his fun...

Business 101; Supply and demand.

Capitalism works because nobody can sell a product for more than what someone else is willing to pay for it. Unless of course it's a .gov contract. In which case you can sell a $20 hammer for $100.[Bang]

Don't like the price move on.

Feel like being a douche bag then fock with them and brag about it on the internet.[fag]I support your right to free speech.

This is really what's wrong with Armslist, and Craigslist has the same problem. The flagging system is easily abused. The "overpriced police" think it's their job (or their amusement, whatever) to go through ads and flag the ones that are overpriced. You can't sell something for a price that you and the buyer think is a fair price - you can only sell for the price you can get past the flaggers.

That the system allows such behavior is the system's problem at the end of the day. Doesn't excuse the behavior of individuals, though.

Big brother does not have to intervene, but behaving like the media carrion in exploiting people and a situation for a short term gain and possibly long term damage is not productive either.

You are free to exercise your "rights" AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT INFRINGE ON THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS !
So with that said, you are acting as if your rights are more important than the rights of the person posting the ads ?

I figure that it's mostly Democrats who are buying at the insane prices now and suddenly realizing elections have consequences. Most Republicans would already have been prepared and own what they need. So...

I'm not an Armslist expert.... (Maybe you have to be signed in) But I was looking on there and it looked as though you kinda have to go out of your way to post your displeasure with one's price... So, are you going out of your way to make a point???

My grandma does that when she drives through Taco Bell... And thinks they are trying to screw her out of a spicy bean burrito!!!

It's kinda sad...

The OP probably voted for Obama. It's the only reason that makes sense for someone to do this. Obama was all about everyone getting a fair shot. And that's what the OP thinks he is doing.

What a POS. There is no such thing as price gauging when you consider the cost of restocking the item. Maybe the OP has never had a business where understanding supply and demand = dollars and cents.

UrbanWolf
12-23-2012, 15:18
OP, are you any different than the Hollywood celebs who demand for gun ban just for fun?

mtnrider
12-23-2012, 15:23
I wonder if the OP is the same guy that replied to one of my Armslist posts telling me that I was "part of the problem" and "I should be ashamed of myself"? Pretty sure he is a member here either way.
Funny thing is my gun was the cheapest priced gun of it's type listed and could easily get a lot more for it right now.
As far as I am concerned any "evil" rifle right now is going to be a collectors item in a few months. I do agree it is hard to swallow right now when you see a gun that you could have bought a week ago for $999 posted with a asking price of $4000. but it is what it is if I don't like it I move on.

Like here and other places just move on if you don't like or agree with the prices.

All you are doing is helping them sell it. I like people like you who flag stuff as it just keeps it at the top. When I post on Craigslist when selling a vehicle I always make and keep a copy of my add just for this reason, takes like 2 seconds to put back up.
