View Full Version : Broken PMag

So, this past week I picked up the last couple PMags I could find anywhere around Parker, and today when I was out shooting, one of the lips of the mag broke. It was brand new, just taken out of the package, and the lip snapped clean off. I know that magpul will replace it, however, I am wondering if this is gonna be a massive problem with them having been wiped out of mags and production being back ordered.
Any info/thoughts on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

...sounds to me like someone's started producing fake PMAGs....

Thanks very much sir!
NightCat, as far as fakes, that would scare the crap out of me. Given the torture testing I have personally done on PMags with EOD guys a couple months ago, I was astonished that this one broke.
Cheers,
Dylan

I wouldn't sweat it. First, Magpul's customer service is exemplary. Second, most people remember the last AWB and how many "pre-ban" mags were still available throughout. I'm betting Magpul, et al. are working to manufacture as many new "pre-ban" mags as they can muster and will continue to do so until they're legally (read: unconstitutionally) required to stop. There will be more mags to go around.
Yea,
Buyer beware,
I was at the Tanner Show yesterday & a Guy in the back on the South side had a lot of MARKED, S&W 15/22. They had the kinda enbossed S&W but the edges weren't cut very sharp like the one I have.
His 15/22, 223/5.56 mags were all Fakes.
They didn't have any country marked on them. Every mag. was the same. no markings.

It happens. Magpul will take care of you. I have chipped of a pmag lip and UBR stock in the past.

Also take into account that when production is going full tilt, QC is going to suffer. We've been seeing this with ammo for the last three years or so. Magpul will make it right, but it wouldn't surprise me if we saw this more frequently after all the stupidity of the last few months.

Yeah, they replaced it no questions, which was awesome of them. Amazingly down where I'm stationed in NM, PMags are available at about $20 each, so getting them is not a huge bank breaker right now. Black guns themselves are fairly cheap as well, most still in the $650-$1000 range.

Since my deployment will be ending in a couple weeks and inquiring minds want to know...are we talking about the BX or one of the shops in town?

Shops in town. The BX hasn't seen much if anything recently in mags or ammo

I believe this failure was seen mostly in the gen2 mags. Supposedly remedied among other things in the gen3.
