Finally getting my colt 1911 mk4 70 Series original back from my gun smith who managed to get all the rust off and tweak some things on it, but some parts he noted are worn out and should be replaced. Originally I wanted to keep the 1911 stock, but I am reconsidering and want to put some money into upgrades i.e: new buffer spring/tube, trigger, etc. I was wondering if anyone has some advice on some part brands? I was leaning towards some Wilson combat parts because of their reputation.

In the past, I've used Wilson Combat parts as well as Ed Brown, Cylinder & Slide, and Evolution Gun Works.

A 1911 with a buffer tube and buffer spring ? I have got to see a picture of that ! [LOL]
Sorry, I just had to, I think we know what parts you are referring to.
Here is a parts kit from Brownells that is all Wilson parts, it includes a barrel, if the rest of your parts are worn enough for replacement your barrel is probably needing replacement too.
Now you get to learn the nomenclature of 1911 parts.

Ed Brown Hardcore internals, Greider trigger, Wolff Spring pack, Wilson Beavertail, one piece guide rod if your so inclined, if it is a range toy Wilson Shok Buffs will help keep the frame from battering but don't use them on a CC piece.

Last build I used a wilson hammer and egw sear. Was surprised to find I didn't have to stone them as they were both cut perfectly. The ed brown disconnectors have always come so highly polished that they can just drop in as well. For the guide rod I like EGW but just about any 1 piece full length you'll need to stone the end and put a bit of a bevel on it (this is so slight you almost can't see it when done), or it's just a pita to get the guide rod plug to slip in to place.

If you do a barrel either get a gunsmith fit and have someone do it or go the kart ez fit if you want to do it yourself. Avoid the drop ins.

Of course I second the Wolff spring pack. I like to go heavy on the recoil spring and trim coils off the end. Cuts down felt recoil and no need for a buffer.

If its a stock Series 70, throw that spring finger barrel bushing away.

Warren Tactical or Heinie sights, regardless of what you are going to use it for.

Now, now, don't turn the thread into "Your gun sucks and mine is great".
