Hey All,

Just thought I'd share some pics of my project Willy's. Lots been done to it: chassis sandblasting, underbody sandblasting, many parts powdercoated, recovered seats, paint job, engine rebuild, tranny rebuild, interior panels (match the seats), headliner, grill slats, new wiring harness, speakers, courtesy lights, etc. I went back to the original style gauges from what my Dad had out in, it did require welding the holes in the dash, but I think it looks good. Still have the bumpers to get re-chromed, wheels/tires and all new glass cut. This Willy's has been in my family longer than I have. My Dad & 2nd cousin built 2 Wagons out of the 3 they had back in the 60's, my Dad always kept his. It's been a blast and I'm sure to enjoy it when I do get it on the road. This is why I haven't been to many shoots lately and have been locked up in my garage with the heater going, ha-ha. Lots of pics, so not dial up friendly.

I've only sent 1 piece off for replating, to Denver Bumper. I'll be getting the bumpers done this summer. The headlight trim rings and lower grill slats, I bought new. For the price, I didn't think I could get my original set replated.

Nope, no lift or mud tires for this puppy, it's only a 2WD.
I've been told it does plow through snow pretty well though.

I've been extremely busy since "retirement"/new job, but definitely want to get back in touch with some of you guy/gals and meet some new folks. I'll keep an eye on the shoot schedule since that's probably the easiest way.

Hoping to have a Garand and GSG-5 added by then!

Brian

Oh yeah, you ought to see a guy used to wearing flight suits trying to figure out what tie goes with what jacket every day... Thank God for a good wife! [Help]

That's looking great!!! I'm restoring a '56 Willys CJ5 myself, my dad's old hunting Jeep. It was in indoor storage for 30 years, this is how it looked when I first pulled it out. Currently down to the frame, need to get back on it and start putting it together. Had the frame blasted and powdercoated.

Cool deal RD, I see a couple of engines over in the corner of your lower pic. They don't happen to be 4 bangers do they? I like the powder coated frame, wish I'd done mine that way.

At one time, I had four of the F-head motors. I'd picked up three freebies, and had big plans for them, until I figured out they were just taking up a lot of space and I'd never use them. My original engine is perfectly rebuildable, so I just glommed a few parts off the motors and traded them off.
