I've been toying with the idea of building a "beater" ar for a truck gun to throw behind the seat, I seen this deal and I dont belive I could build one for $585.00? opinions?

I sell the Oly Plinker Plus for about $600 + 3.9% tax brand new. Includes a hard case, 30 round mag and sling, plus a warranty.

You might check around because after shipping and a transfer fee you'll probably be well over $600.

The Oly rifle upper/lower receivers are now forged as opposed to cast. Just my opinion but they'd make a pretty nice knock-about gun.

shoot, I'd go for it
of course, I'm always good at spending other's money. [Coffee]
You can also check checking here and the EE on arfcom and put one together for about that. (buy a lower locally) and find an upper.
I did that about 2 or 3 years ago and I bet I have less than $500 in it.
shoots fine.
for a knockaround gun I might think more of an A2 rather than a A3/M4 style, keeps the sights from getting knocked off. Just a thought.

I've got one of these in the 18" rifle length gas configuration. It's pretty damn nice even if it is a DPMS lower. Might do some clean up on the trigger group, but for $600 no one can touch it with anything higher quality.

Go for it..

well I finally gave in and ordered two of them today, giving the current political situation I felt I had to, I dont want to get caught with my pants down if/when the commies take over next year. it's going to be $1184.00 total after shipping and transfer fees are added in, not to bad imho for two ar's. I will post pics when they arrive.

$1184 would have got you some reloading equipment or an AK and lots of ammo.
enjoy the new toys CMMG has some very good deals.

I have two ak's, and a fully stocked reloading room already, I did that when I seen ammo prices going through the roof. now I just pick up loading supplies when I run across a real good deal, as im sure we all know, dont happen that often these days. I figured it was time to start the weapon collecting now, before the democraps take over.

got both of mine today, both are dpms lowers, and like new in every way, not a mark rub or scratch to be found, inside or out. they came with the dpms oval handguards, but since I have short fat fingers, I traded them out with standard bushmaster round guards.

well the virdict is in, these are great rifles, crisp triggers, no trouble at all, I put a carry handle I had laying around on one, and got 1.5" to 2" inch groups at 100 yards. I belive the rifle could have done better, I'm a getting a little shakey as I age, rifle # two was the doner for my new leupold mark4 1.5-5 mr/t m2 scope (kinda sad the scope cost's more than the rifle) but after sighting her in, I shot several quarter size 3 shot groups at 100 yards. I do belive I'm going to order a couple more of these, before they run out or the democraps take over.
