View Full Version : Ghost Pepper Sauce. My Mouth Is On FIRE.
I like hot foods and I added some ghost pepper sauce to a mix of franks red hot wings + krogers wing sauce... Normally this is nothing it just tastes good. But holy shit. Don't eat ghost peppers, my mouth is on fire, my face is sweating, and I just drank like a half gallon of milk....

In Qatar the KFC had spicy strips. They were ok, but the fun part always came the next day.

I should find a drug dealer for vicodin I'm thinking... Prison might be more pleasant.

Nah, i think that feels refreshing....lol.
I ate a whole habenero when I was a teenager. I cried for an hour, drank a half gallon of milk and a 2 liter of fresca,
then let my girlfriend have a bite.[ROFL1]
Habanero scoville 575,000... Ghost pepper 1,578,000. I don't think it's going to feel refreshing. As a matter of fact. I'm an idiot for wanting to try it.

try sugar. It's the antidote to the heat.

The ratings you posted are correct, but not every pepper is going to be that hot. I posted a few years about buying hot sauce with Ghost Chilies in it, and while it has a kick, it certainly isn't how you are describing. I was actually a little disappointed in the stuff I got. Where did you get what you are eating?

I got it as a gift from a friend. It's HOT. That one time with the burnin wings at bww that we had along with you before fooling you are like childs play compared to this... As I remember you didn't enjoy them.

Heat in doesn't necessarily equal Heat out. The whole H pepper wasn't anything notable on the way out. The KFC strips were warm going in, but fire breathing dragon on the way out.
We used to take a drop at a time of some ghost pepper sauce and put it on our tongues for fun, that was not as bad as biting into, chewing and swallowing a whole H pepper.
A tablespoon of that sauce mixed into a 50# batch of beef jerky was too much for most people to eat the jerky, that stuff is to be used VERY sparingly If you mixed more than 4-8 drops in that batch of chicken, I feel for you.

just don't wipe your mouth on the curtains...
The beef jerky lady at the Tanner had some ghost jerky, too too hot for me. Funny thing is, some folks think that Mexicans eat hot stuff like jalapenos and habaneros a lot, but most I've talked with don't like them whole. They will take the seeds (the hot part) and membranes out of the pepper and eat just the meat of the pepper.
Jims Wings in Ft Collins has some Ghost Pepper sauce. Tried a little bit of it. Holy Shit!
I can take some heat, I'm not a champion or anything but I like it hot. But holy shit that stuff was hot. I also tried some "Insanity" up in Estes Park one time. It was a free sample of some salsa and chips so I took a huge honking scoop of it and shoveled it down. I almost threw up outside on the side walk in down town Estes.
I do know that with Jalapenos that the drier the season the hotter they are and the wetter the season the milder they are. Had a really hot Jalapeno at a restaraunt this year and asked the chef why it was so damn hot. Said it was because of the dry season where they were grown.
I have some hot sauce here that is 7million scoville units.... Needless to say, it doesn't get used much.

My son loves the heat so last Christmas I bought him a ghost pepper pack-sauce,powder,and actual peppers. He still has most of it because even he says it's to be used sparingly.

I've got some from Dave's Insanity if you'd like to try it.. It's not nice. I've had people in tears w/ just a little swipe on the back of a spoon. I put a couple drops in some chili and no one wanted it... more for me :)
Have you shit it out yet?
Ghost peppers are nasty both ways...I'll never try that stuff again man.

Quaker Steak and Lube in Westminster has 2 types:
ATOMIC - habanero
TRIPLE ATOMIC - Bhut Jolokia ("Ghost Pepper)
The wings or nuggets there were only coated with these...and were HOT.
There was a place, Wingman's, near 104th and Huron in Northglenn.
They had a Ghost Pepper sauce called "Flaming Feathers" that was REALLY hot.
When they served it, the wings were not just coated, but swimming/soaking" in it.
Also, in the sauce was some salad oil, to help make things "stick" to your mouth for a longer time.
Everything I've read indicates that the heat lingers because the capsaicinoid oils bind to the pain receptors and other things in your mouth.
Supposedly the heat/pain is only a "sensation" of heat. There is not supposed to be any real damage, such as chemical burns, to your tissue.
I wonder how true that is.
The best "antidote" for your mouth is supposed to be dairy products like yogurt, sour cream, milk etc. Supposedly the casein in them is a "better binder" that your mouth tissue. The capsaisin will release from your mouth, attach to the casein, and travel with it, either to your stomach, or out of your mouth, if you spit it out. (I do this...probably the best out of the "remedies")
Sugar can help sort of act as an abrasive to "grind off" the capsaisin from your mouth. (I tried this...works best in conjunction with the dairy remedy)
I also read that the capsaisin is a bit alkaline, so "mouth washing" with an acid, like lemon juice, will help "neutralize" it. (I tried it, but found it not very effective)
Because capsaisin is oily, water and alcohol seem to do little to remove it from your mouth.
And at all costs, try not to regurgitate. It just starts the whole "pain" thing all over again. It is typically your mouth that is on fire, not your stomach (not many pain receptors in there ).
As for the "day after", I'm told an ice cream cone can help. But to be most effective, you are not supposed to eat it....you "apply" it. (Never tried it...never will) [LOL]

I ate a whole pepper after having a few beers with friend one night. For two hours it felt like someone was holding a lighter to the back of my throat and about 4 hours later I had a damn stomach ache that put me in he fetal position for an hour. Bad shit.
Gun bans not withstanding, I don't go to BWW, I trek over to Conifer and go to Wing Wagon... the owner is from N.E., but he's awesome and has the hottest wings (Try the Suicide 20s) that taste 100x better than that buffalo "wild" bull... I asked if he did ghost peppers, but he said something to the effect of "I like the flavor, with the heat, not just the heat."

I did the wing challenge at Quaker Steak a while back. It was rough but I'd definitely do it again.

Great post, but I question the validity of this part:
Supposedly the heat/pain is only a "sensation" of heat. There is not supposed to be any real damage, such as chemical burns, to your tissue.
Back when I was in HS & still living with my parents, my dad grew some hot banana peppers in their garden. I remember getting some of the pepper oil on my hands, then touching my cheek. Any place I touched became red and swollen & burned until I washed it off. Even then, it took a couple of hours for the redness & swelling to go way. It wasn't an allergic reaction, just a reaction to the heat of the pepper oil. Not fun.
I still love hot stuff & have been wanting to order some powdered & some dried ghost pepper's, just haven't done it yet. Of course, I'll be using it very sparingly.

Looks like you can buy it here. http://www.hotsauceworld.com/daghpenajoho.html

I like hot but it has to taste good. Habaneros are hot and they taste good. Do Ghost Chilies taste good or are they just hot.
I've tried Dave's Insanity and it sucked, very hot but didn't taste good.

I was making lazy mans boneless wings. AKA chicken nuggets + hot sauce. Not really sure what a habanero tastes like in all honesty. It tasted like franks red hot + kroger "spicy garlic" hot sauce as that was the majority. I just tossed in a few good shakes of the ghost pepper sauce.
Tried some ghost pepper powder on jerky this weekend... It felt like I was putting out matches between my butt cheeks about an hour later... Hottest thing I've ever eaten.
