View Full Version : Remind me why guys often delete the price of sold items?
Just trying to research what is "reasonable" these days based on actual CO sales.
I don't want to be the chump who enables flipping, but then again I don't want to take advantage of someone who wasn't able to hold items in the safe for five years. It used to be easy enough to round up prices from different online sources, and if a few of our local ads didn't display the price it wasn't a big deal. Now things are so crazy I can't tell what a reasonable price would be.
So what's the explanation?

Because sometimes a NOOB will respond to an ad that sold 3 months ago that still has the price in even though you edited the ad with a #20 font in red SOLD !!!

1. It's no one's busniess what terms the buyer and seller agreed to.
2. A listed price does not equal the sale price.

^^ plus You want to compete with other ongoing for sale items..not sold item. Price it accordingly per what's on the market.

I delete the price so when the IRS audits me, they can't add whatever massive profit I made to my tax liability. Or the above reasons.

Because this isn't barfcom!! [LOL]
Because the people selling $3k bushmasters don't want evidence to come back @ them in a few years when they're whining about price
sent by the free-range electronic weasel attached to my hip.
Because Bert's mommy says I can................................. [Coffee]
So you don't know what the price is and we can take you for all you're worth! MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In the future all prices should be rephrased into how many pmags the item costs
Dang, I'm gald I didn't ask that question[Dunno]

People pull that me with all the time. They come in to look at something, come back a few days later when it's sold and ask "what did it sell for?"
doesnt really matter now does it.

I feel like leaving the price helps give a reference for what the market price of an item is. This, plus looking at how long the item took to sell will generally give a good idea of what to ask for an item that you might not know the worth of.
A seller is free to do whatever they want though I guess, and like someone else mentioned, the asking price often isn't the sold price.

And now that phrase is dead. Anytime someone says 'I saw that on the back of a MINI' it's done. Stick a fork in it.

Because we do what we want. I have no problem answering what I sold something for if someone pm's me, if I can remember. I pmed someone last night and asked, they were gracious to respond with the answer.
