So I just got in town last night for a late Xmas with my family in NE. I left my 3 yo Cockapoo and 11 yo Shepherd/Husky at the Brother in Laws and I got a call at 9pm-9:30pmish my Shepherd/Husky which I've had since 2 months was unable to use his back legs, his head was involuntarily shaking and wouldn't eat or drink. I've never seen him act out of the norm. He was fine when we dropped him off at 10AM and they said he was fine when they left the house at 3pm but acting like this at 5pm when they got home. They said he was resting comfortably and didn't want to take him to the vet until morning but I told them he needs to go in now and I'd pay the emergency $$$. I also asked if he may have gotten into trash or something he shouldn't have. He's a butthead sometimes when he's at other peoples houses. They took him in and guess what the $95 diagnosis was? He ate Mary Janes Cookies! So I am a bit upset but relieved at the same time. The part that makes me more upset is they deny leaving crap out and say he must have eaten it at my house. First off I don't have that crap at my house, second if he did get it at my house and he didn't how the hell would he be high 7 hours later! Won't be leaving my guys there to be watched ever again that's for sure. Glad he's okay though because that'd be a shitty Xmas gift if he passed and I am 520 miles away!

I'd have made them pay for it.

Yeah, they should pay, especially since they purposely fed him the cookies.

someone would be going to the emergency room to have my foot surgically removed from their ass.

edibles are potent... Did they have to pump his stomach or did they say it will just wear off?

As I was reading that I recognized the symptoms... the EXACT same thing happened to our dog a few years ago- scared the piss out of us. My brother's boss gave him pot brownies for Christmas last year, dog ate them, and got messed up. The law was laid down that day- NO POT IN THE HOUSE- Ryan (me!) gets to enforce it with the simple application of arm bars and various other forms of military-police detention/restraining techniques. This is (sadly) extremely common nowadays.

Glad the dog was ok.

Pot should be banned! Think of the puppies!

Actually, this is very true- Our vet said he has encountered this a few times before, and went to a veterinary conference and brought this up- the experts all agree, marijuana is not good for animals and can cause long term negative effects.

Sure he didn't make em himself??? [ROFL2] They must have did it on purpose, hence why they wanted to wait until morning to take him in???/

+1 Who leaves pot (of any kind) products around that a dog could eat accidentaly. They probably thought it was real funny when he first acted goofy. You should shove a few of those cookies up his a$$ too.

So.. your BIL is a dumbass.

But what do you expect from potheads?

First off, yea what a dumb a$$ for letting the dog get to that! That said, I bet the boarding cost would have exceeded the $95 vet bill and your dog had a good time... Ok, so you need another dog sitter.
Glad to hear your dog is ok.

Pretty much just let it wear off. I guess he is still all goofy today crapping and peeing all over their house.

That's exactly what the vet said.

I hope that is the dogs revenge.. Ha!

I'd be in jail. BIL would be in ICU.

I'd bet he fed them. Anyone who's ever had / been around a dog knows that they're hungry little fuckers and will jump, scavenge, and climb to get to any food. Hell when I walk out of the room I have to put my food in the middle of the kitchen island which is waist height so my little cocker spaniel doesn't get his greedy little paws on it.

Yeah, there would be a 10-minute ass whooping for those jack wagons if it were my dog.

Yeah he's shaking uncontrollably and can't use his legs.....we'll worry about it tomorrow morning, not an emergency or anything.....Ignorant, selfish, assholes.

It pisses me off too but I can't do anything from here. I'm glad he's fine now.
