At least you can walk in and do it. Some counties you need an appointment.

it is odd, Douglas is tough on NFA, but really easy to work with on CCW

Sheriff Weaver is the problem on NFA. What a hypocritical asshole.

Got out of there at 1:30. Four hours to pay and get a new photo taken. Already did finger prints when we got the original. I don't have a problem with that, it could be fucking worse and it is in other locations.

FUCK THAT! I walked in to Larimer county last week, handed him my filled out form they mailed me with my renewal notice, paid the money, got my picture and was out of there in 20 minutes.
One of my students contacted me over the weekend and said he finally got a call back from Denver county after over a week of waiting and his appointment isnt until mid April.....

This thread reminded me to check the expiration date on mine. November 2012. Fawk.
Just expired on the 8th, went in mid last month and Adams is making me wait the full 90 days , guess I should have went in back in September. I was specifically told that once my permit expired I could not carry until my new permit arrived in the mail. [Bang]
Went in this afternoon at 1:00 pm for my renewal. No one in line, put down my $38, and my paper work, and was told 30 days...My current one does not expire till may..:)
Anybody renew thiers in the Springs lately? What is the process? Mine expires late this year.

What is the procedure for renewal. I have a permit from Jeffco. I have to go there today for another issue, maybe I can ask someone while I am there.

Thanks for the link.
I just did a renewal in Larimer several weeks ago. My experience was very good. They have the process pretty fine tuned. I think turn around was about a month on the new permit.

Mine expires on April 17, I was at the Adams County Sheriff's office on December 20. It went very quickly, the Sheriff's Dept employee's were efficient and friendly. It will take 90 days, they said they would call me the day they mail it.
FWIW, you can apply for renewal 120 days before the expiration date.

Good to know, mine is coming up soon
I went up to JeffCo this morning to do an address change. For that I was in and out in less than 10 min. It was 9:30 and there must have been 30 people waiting to apply for or to renew a CCW. [Bang]
Weld county.....60 days as of today for a renewal...WTF?...........[Bang]

They usually run the full 90 for renewal. Up side is unlike other counties, you're not making an appointment to make an appointment , be there between 12:01 and 12:15, call 3 weeks in advance to see when they can get you in. AND Cooke signs off on NFA paperwork.

Hmmmm. When I was down there Feb 4th, the chick behind the glass told us no more then 30 days... No worries though, my current one expires mid May..

I had this same thing happen in Jeffco recently. I never imagined that it would take a full 90 days like a new CCW but that's what they said. Had I realized that, I certainly would have renewed earlier so that my CCW wasn't expired. Guess I'll have to open carry for a while. :)

I went in to Douglas County's sprawling Courthouse/Jail/DA's office/Sheriff's office/Coffee shop in early February to renew my CCW. I had called and there were definitely days to avoid if you were just renewing, so I came in on the recommended day (don't recall what day of the week it was, but they only accept new concealed carry applications on certain days, and they are absolutely slammed on those days, so don't go to renew on those days).
Was in/out in 10-15 minutes for the renewal process. Was told '8 weeks' to process the renewal, which was a change from my previous two renewals of same day turnaround, the longest wait on the previous two renewals was finding the sheriff to get him to sign the new permit. My first renewal in 2003 took a few hours, the second renewal in 2008 took less than 30 minutes.
Got a call in late March to come on down and pick up the new permit. New permit looks 'all professional and stuff', compared to the old ones. New permit is no longer a 'concealed weapon permit' but is now a 'concealed handgun permit'.
Long story even longer, approximate 6 week turnaround to process the renewal in Douglas County.

Just got back my renewal today -- dropped it off at EPSO on Feb 20th so they finished it in about 2/3 the estimated time.
