I have now... and wow, that's what passes for journalism these days? [facepalm]"With that being the case, the average wait time for the completion of a background check is about 100 hours — up from the typical average of a couple of minutes." Has anyone had their BGC pre-CT Shooting be "a couple of minutes"? I remember when I bought a new gun 2 years ago, it took 30 min. Last time I checked, 30 is not a couple. I won't get into my frustration over the reporters use of the word "assault rifle." And who the heck is Bob Kiggins? I thought Rich Wyatt owned Gunsmoke.

I've purchased 3 guns in the last 2 months. The longest I had to wait for a BGC was a little over an hour and shortest wait was about a half hour. All took quite a bit longer than a few minutes.

You gotta love the rifle Jim is holding. Bump fire stock and a light out near the end of the barrel. I'll have to walk over and see what he wants for it.

I've had wait times in the sub 5 minute range.

This line puzzled me though.

But if you’re getting that background check in order to purchase an AR-15 or any other sort of assault-style weapon or ammunition, you could be waiting a lot longer.

1. It's not just AR-15's or Assault-style rifles, it's any gun period.
2. When did they in-act a background check for ammunition?

Bob is probably one of the only people in that I would want to talk to about anything. He is a pretty good guy and is pretty knowledgeable about older firearms.

I love the ranger plates on that magazine. With everything that has been coming out of Rich recently can't believe they are selling something with a bumpstock. Oh well, they got a very small amount of my business before I figured out they were taking folks for a ride.

I won't do business with them. Once anyone get their 15 minutes of fame and all the money they get for that lame program, I refuse to give my money to them....

my wife and I watched that "clip" and wanted to beat our heads against the wall. We were wondering, where the term "clip" came from???

M1 uses a clip and some ammo are on stripper clips for easier loading into magazines, and bad writers for TV and Movies.

First sentence of the 'expose'

"...guns have literally been going like hot cakes..."

Anyone else sick of these supposed journalists and English majors using words in place of their exact opposites? I think what she meant was figuratively. In fact, how 'bout you just say that they're selling like hot cakes and leave out all additional descriptors if you can't handle the language you're being paid to present to the public.

re: Christmas gifts... The blonde: I'd hit it. The 2nd picture of the dude: nice trigger control.

FYI: The blond was holding a AR15-22

First off, I don't really know much about what a bumpstock is so please feel free to educate me. What I do know is that it sure makes the firearm seem to act like a full-auto. Personally, I think it is completely ridiculous that this is allowed if full autos are not allowed. To me it looks like the same thing and I would hate to find out that some nutcase went on a shooting spree with one of these things and a beta mag. If anything would end 2A, that would probably do it there.

Personally I think they are pretty stupid too. I just think wasting ammo is just dumb. I don't think they will end up ending 2A, but that they will be made a Class 3 items (and the sooner the better). Gunsmoke pushing these things makes us all look like crazy ass gun nuts, just like a lot of stuff on that show. However, just like the issue about the AR15, if someone is going to kill a lot of people they will find a way with or with out these.

I think they are pretty dumb as well however since the rifle still needs a pull of the trigger each time it fires, why should it be disallowed? How does one of these items allow someone to kill other people so much easier? Don't fall into the trap of the anti's. why does everybody think that going full auto just makes everything so effortless and so much more dangerous. This type of thinking is just foolish.

you can bump fire an AR without any tools. evil in the hearts of men is the cause of death(in murder)

not ARs, not contraptions for ARs, not magazines, not sights, not tac vests, not tac boots, not tac cars or suvs.

bump stocks are fun, and can aid in producing "suppressive" fire, but I'll take on-target "tap, tap" all day everyday over auto fire or simulated auto fire. not that a .223 is all that hard to control, but still slide stocks are fairly useless.

So in the videos on youtube that i see where it looks like full auto these guys are pulling the trigger each time?

From what I have seen and know about these bump stocks, I would almost prefer for a madman to have that and one of those ridiculous 100 round mags rather than a regular semi auto with a 10/20/30 rd Pmag. I would wager that he couldn't hit much of what he was aiming at and anything over 30 rounds is fairly prone to malfunctioning. See the theater shooting for evidence of that one.

Yes. For each shot the trigger is pulled. Instead of your finger moving to pull the trigger think of it as the trigger moving into your finger. The weapons recoil is manipulated to accomplish this.

Gunsmoke was on the local news again tonight - I was not paying attention to the channel. They were talking about what guns 'could be banned'. Nothing informative except the news guy gave FBI stats as to how many violent crimes actually involved "assault rifles" (virtually none by his stats).

I've never used a SlideFire stock, or whatever they're called, but the videos on their website make it look like the rifle is pretty controllable and aimable. The slide moves back and forth, while your finger presses on a part of the stock, not the trigger. You push the rifle forward and it makes your finger contact the trigger, and recoil makes it bounce back and forth, firing repeatedly and fast, but still one trigger pull per shot.

I'd certainly NOT want to hear about someone using one of those in another damn shooting. That's just what we need. It's not full-auto fire, but damn close to it, and if you can aim and control it? You could do a lot of damage, and with normal 30 rd. mags. If that asshole at the Aurora theater had one of those and a bunch of P-Mags taped together in pairs, it could have been far worse. Especially where the people were trying to get out of the exits.

I'll not be surprised one bit to see those outlawed in the near future.
