Will do. Won't do a damn bit of good except help flag all of us for the confiscators, but I'll go ahead and again B.S. myself that these asswipes will actually listen to a constituent about anything, since they know what's good for us 'cause we're stupid incompetents except during voting time.

I told Udall and Bennet that if they needed any more encouragement to vote "no" on any anti-2A bills, just think about the frenzy of gun buyers right now. Do they really think those people will vote for them if they vote for more gun restrictions?

I contacted my reps yesterday at all levels. I am very concerned about what will happen in the state as well as the country. We have a fight ahead of us.
I sent my emails in. I would suggest that all of us do the same.
Yup get on it guys, I sent mine in this AM.
The text of my letter (Federal Version):
I am writing you today to voice my opposition to any new "gun control" legislation. As you are probably aware, criminals, BY DEFINITION, do not obey the law. Therefore, it stands to reason that any new restrictions on firearms would only be heeded by those already inclined to abide by the law. Thus, new laws would have essentially no effect on crime rates. Please do not seek to capitalize on the tragedies of the last several months to further a demonstrably failed policy. I ask instead that you choose to uphold the oath you swore to "protect and defend the Constitution", including the Second Amendment. I am an unaffiliated voter, and pay close attention to how my representatives align themselves with the issues. Rest assured, I, and many like me will concentrate considerable resources to defeat in the next election those that attempt to abridge our freedoms. Conversely, we will support those that choose to be representatives of their constituents, as well as holding steadfast to the values that our Founding Fathers held dear.
Thank you for your time and attention.
All very nice, but if writing to those assholes is all we ever do, we might as well sell our guns while we can and take up knitting. With the recipients of some sort of government largess now outnumbering the members of the productive class, it has become mathematically impossible to vote out way to Liberty.

I wrote to all my federal elected officials and all my state officials (both old districts and new ones that go in to effect this term, the re-districting switched my reps.) Vicki Marble wrote me a good note back:
"Thank you, John, I appreciate your email and could not agree with you more. I promise your voice will be heard.I can assure you that my votes will be cast in favor of gun owners and their right to own any type of firearm and clip they wish to possess.
I will not advocate for criminals, and the criminally insane, by taking away the gun rights of law abiding gun owners.
Our focus should be on the mentally ill.
Keep your sites clear and your ears open.
Thank you again for your time.
Sincerely,
Vicki Marble
Senator Elect"
"Keep your sites clear" Now I know what all the sheeple must have felt when Obama said "Hope and Change" she was speaking my language.
I added a line to what seems to be my boilerplate letter to my congress critters. "While this sort of law seems to poke its head out everytime an unrelated tragedy happens. I want you to know that I support my right to own weapons now and in the future. That will not change."
Responses from our State Representatives and Senators so far:
Senator Greg Brophy:
James, thanks for writing.
You can count on me to vote to protect the Second Amendment.
When the bills are finally introduced, you should write your Senator and Representative individually and ask them how they plan to vote on the specific bill(s). I don't think you need any other statements, just tell them where you live and that you want to know how they will vote.
You also should try to go to any town meetings that they have and ask them in person in front of everyone.
Greg B.
Spelling errors are Apple's fault, I own the grammar.
Representative Beth McCann [Mad]:
Thank you for contacting me about your views on gun safety legislation. It appears that we disagree about the need for additional legislation, but I appreciate your taking the time to send your thoughts. Rep. McCann
Representative Ray Scott:
Thank you Mr. Fleischaker, agreed! Happy New Year
Representative Spencer Swalm:
I assure you that I too respect the Constitutional right to bear arms. Moreover, data indicate that gun-control legislation does not prevent tragic shootings. I fully expect a great deal of pressure from those who want control over all facets of our lives. In the hope of balancing that pressure, you may want to attend hearings and, if you are willing, speak as you have written. Thank you for your message and your defense of our treasured Constitution. Respectfully, Representative Spencer Swalm
And Representative Chris Holbert (Member here [Flower])
James, The Second Amendment exists to protect us from tyranny and I will not compromise on that issue. If you have time, please take a look under "Rocky Mountain Gun Owners" at my web site: http://www.holbert4house.com/Recognition.html Respectfully yours, - Chris

Response from Senator elect Saine:
Hello John,
Consider what John Lott Jr. observed:
"There were seven movie theaters showing the premiere of the Batman movie within a 20-minute drive of the killer's apartment. Only one banned guns, posting signs warning permit holders that their guns weren't allowed. Yet, the killer didn't go to the theater that was closest to his home. Nor did he go to the largest theater. He went to the single one where he didn't believe that others would be able to protect themselves."
This example here at home and other recent instances seem to strengthen the evidence that the advertisement of gun-free zones serve to empower the murderers; whereas encouraging concealed carry has been the only public policy proven to have either proactively deceased or severely curtailed public shootings while in progress.
Thank you for addressing this important concern. There are many ways you can help us fight gun control legislation at the captiol and I can send you information when those opportunities arise.
Thank you,
Lori Saine

then a same old response from Bennet that im sure everyone got.
I love when I write my "Rep." Dianne Degette. I tell her what I want and she replies with (and I'm paraphrasing) I enjoy my position and nobody is going to get me out of office and my dogma and a slave to my idiology that I learned growing up in a communist community teaches me that your constitution doesn't matter and that I shouldn't recognize it. I don't care about your guns I am to busy being a socialite and going to parties and other functions where I have body guards to protect me with guns but they are well hidden because I don't like them. Please send me money. I look forward to your response. But not really I just have to say that.
Dianne Deggete, Congress Critter.
My reply is usually shorter.
How do you sleep at night you commie bitch you are not my rep. Again I am paraphrasing.
Response from Senator elect Saine:

Holy hell she quoted John Lott. Serious win.

More responses:
James,
Thank you so much for writing to me to express your opinion concerning potential gun control legislation. It’s so sad that families have suffered terribly at the hands of cold-blooded perpetrators, but keeping arms from law-abiding citizens will only make the problem worse, in my opinion.
My stand continues to be one of firm support for our citizens to bear arms, and I will be a strong voice as an opponent of any additional gun control. My support of our right to bear arms will include an anticipated debate and vote on the issue in the House Judiciary Committee, of which I’m a member.
In addition, I look forward to working in a bipartisan way to ensure that we improve our access to care for the mentally ill. This has been a concern of mine for some time, and I hope that, with slightly improved revenues to the state coffers, we can create a better system to serve this group of people. In fact, I’ve been asked by Mental Health America of Colorado to be the House caucus sponsor for their regular meetings at the capitol.
Many mentally ill individuals could be easily treated for their illness if we had a better system of care. Currently, our jails are full of untreated individuals who have no access to appropriate care.
Thank you again for being a voice of support for the 2nd Amendment.
Best regards,
Rep. Carole Murray
Castle Rock
And Mary Hodge weighs in noncommittally. Better than I expected.
Dear Mr. Fleischaker,
Thank you for sharing your opinion on this important topic. The General Assembly is not yet in session and so no legislation has been introduced. I expect there will be legislation of some kind introduced, but I have not seen any at this date. I plan on listening to both sides carefully as we go forward this session. Thank you for taking the time to write.

We should make a dedicated thread for people to post the responses from elected officials so we know who is on our side and who isn't. we should include dates too so we know if people are changing there stance.

"I ask that you consider and respect this constituent's wishes to oppose ANY new Gun Control legislation. Your vote is counted on as representative of those in which you govern, by our consent.
I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
You have your work cut out for you at the state level."

Dear Captain Huge Balls (real name redacted),
Thank you for contacting me regarding Second Amendment rights. I appreciate that you took the time to write on this important topic.
Responsible gun ownership is an integral part of our Western heritage. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides for an individual right, and I am dedicated to protecting the rights of citizens to own firearms for personal protection, hunting, collecting or for other legal purposes.
We can all agree that the shootings at Columbine High School; Virginia Tech; in Aurora; Tucson, AZ; Newtown, CT and other instances in which terrible crimes have been committed with guns are national tragedies that should concern us all. No single policy is going to be adequate in preventing gun tragedies in the future. We need comprehensive solutions that examine our culture's glorification of violence, the effectiveness of our laws, our ability to enforce those laws and access to firearms, especially those designed for the battlefield. We must do everything we can - consistent with the Second Amendment - to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, the mentally ill and those who would turn them against their community. As legislation related to Second Amendment rights is debated, I will carefully examine its intentions and impacts and use your thoughts to help guide me.
I will continue to listen closely to what you and other Coloradans have to say about matters before Congress, the concerns of our communities, and the issues facing Colorado and the nation. My job is not merely about supporting or opposing legislation, but also about bridging the divide that has paralyzed our nation's politics.
