On the El Paso County front as far as CCW Permits go, I had a student tell me yesterday that her appointment with the Sheriffs Office was scheduled for March 6th. So if you call now you can look at about a 2 month wait.

I mentioned in another post a friend of mine bought a new AR from Wal-Mart yesterday. He walked out of the store with almost immediately. This was a Colorado Walmart. Seems the chain uses the FBI background. To bad the gun shops can't do that.

Sorry all, I put my BGC for a new Sig... I hope to have her by next weekend. What I really don't understand here is where the hell are all these coming from continuously? It was at 10,000 on Sat, and today it's at 11,000? So people keep flooding in and submitting checks? They get to what? 1200-1400 per day, and it would seem that 12-1500 keep submitting every day. I'm assuming, since prior to this posting, my BGC was entered, so maybe I have 6 days or so to wait. I'm still not happy, I've never had to wait more than an hour for my BGC.

Yah, I'm trying to figure that one out too. I wonder how many guns were bought online and are now waiting at the receiving FFL to clear the BGC.

The concern here, and it's a fair one, is that something could happen to make you ineligible, e.g. a restraining order or mental health hold, but you could still have your physical permit in hand. Without the background check, the seller is relying on potentially outdated info.

That's why it'd be EXTREMELY important to some how update this type info (on a timely basis) with the official who actually issued that persons CCW. That official would then have to make immediate contact with the CCW holder advising him/her that their permit is no longer valid and must be returned to the issuing Officer immediately. But, this still wouldn't prevent the CCW holder to make purchases in the mean time..... Don't know how it would/could work but surely other States must have some system to update this type info.

Why does someone with a concealed carry permit even need to get a background check? That person has already been thouroughly vetted by the authorities. Seems to me they could streemline the system if they cut out the redundant checks on those folks.

ATF will not allow that unless a state's permit is "NICS-compliant", which Colorado's county-by-county issuing system is not.

More once all the CO BG checks get approved. THE Feds would have to Amnesty w/out charge for tax stamps. During the wait time you could not (hopefully) be prosecuted for a non-compliant gun. THEN comes the legality / court cases for people in states who do not recognize NFA. CA would shit IF they had to allow grandfathered CADOJ long guns as NFA / Title II firearms. Blomberg would have an aneurism, seeing his Gun Ban morph in to a nationwide NFA Free for all.
Your current wait time for NFA approval is 28 months. Isylandermyk would be pulling his hair out;)

CCW use to be recognized for cash & carry. however the shooting in castle rock was one of th estraws that broke the proverbial camel's back. As usual the mantra of "IF IT SAVES ONE LIFE, ISN'T IT WORTH IT" SWAYED politicians back to the dark side of life. The next session of the Co legislature will be the full brunt of anti-gun emblazoned reps and their minions.

You need to hand it to Randy and his wife, they went out of their way to make sure the BGC went through. They spent hours on the phone to make sure they spoke with someone at CBI to process the 4473. They could have easily entered the 4473 manually and his customers would have a 8 to 10 day wait time OR they could have charged more to have them processed within 24.

+1 to R&S I alway check with Randy first when I'm in the market for my next purchase.

For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,”b (http://www.ar-15.co/#footnotesb) and “The worker deserves his wages.

My wife deals with the BGC for me (I don't do BGC at the show) and she won't do it for free (I can't say as I blame her). She has to put up with "is it finished yet", "why is it taking so long" so on and so forth [panic] (multiply that times 30 people) WHILE she is trying to enter it into the computer. The other option for me is to raise my prices or take the purchase up to the front and for the customer to wait in line with all the other 4473s to be processed by the TGS processors in the front of the show. I choose to keep my prices lower and let the buyer pay $10.00. The job is available to anyone who want to do that for 2 days, then file the forms, enter them into the A&D book, maintain the for forms for 20 years, and do this all for free.

So, $10.00 sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

$10 is a DEAL for this service. Some people place no value whatsoever on the labor of others. I could go into a really long, profanity laced tirade about the expectations some people have of other people...but I won't.

The job is available to anyone who wants to do that for 2 days from 9 to 5, then file the forms, enter the info into the A&D book, maintain the for forms for 20 years, and do this all for free.

So, $10.00 sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I agree, but since you are quoting scripture, you could have just told me and others that. Why tell customers they are not affiliated you? Again, I have no issue with it. I just sensed some deception so chose to buy elsewhere. It is all good.

Wow you're a pretty rude mother #$%^&. You have an issue with ANYONE here PM them. Stop pissing & moaning grow up act like a man. I'd pm you this but doubt you would get it, especially after the numerous times it was EXPLAINED TO EVERYONE.
I have had the one dealing with R&S,, Both Randy & his wife went out of their way for a sale which they could have charged me much more for, PLUS accommodated me due to distance from them. RANDY made the calls to me, RANDY made sure i SAVED MONEY by driving down to the show not only on saturday, but then again on sunday to pick up my rifle. This was after i informed him, if he or his wife were unable to SIT ON THE PHONE FOR UNTOLD HOURS i would be happy to pick it up next week when down in the metro area.
HOWEVER RANDY said he would try to get it done ASAP. I WILL NOT EVEN GO IN TO WHAT TIME I RECEIVED MY gtg CALL, CONSIDERING THE LONG HOURS THEY PUT IN AT TANNER, DEALING WITH SNIVELLING Childern like you.

IF R&S had an item i wanted, i would take the drive there and back just because R&S stood by their word. That's something you RARELY see ANYWHERE .

They have always been an upfront honest outfit.
$10 for a BGC that doesn't take 7- 8 days ? hell yes ! Only a dumb ass would bitch about that.
Even before the madness, it still cost you the $10 for the BGC at the gun shows.

I was put in the queue for a BGC on Saturday at an LGS. According to the CBI numbers I won't be able to pickup my gun until sometime late next week. I would have gladly ponied up an extra $10 to have the gun same day if it were an option.

Has anyone else noticed they seem to be doing less and less each day? Initially they were doing around 2200 a day. If I'm not mistaken they managed to do over 4K on Black Friday and now every update I see from them indicates they have done less than they did the previous day.

I think CBI hires through Prime Source Staffing, so anyone looking for a job right now may check into that. I think they pay $10-$11 an hour or something.

CBI now has a new, old process. It was if I were willing to wait on "hold" for 4 hours CBI would process 10 form 4473. Now when I call in, they will take the information and put it into the computer and call me back when it is finished, no quicker than when I put it in the queue. WHAT A CROCK OF SHIZ. They are hiring 26 people to answer the phone and put the same information into the computer that I can do myself?

Instead of doing what other states do, put in the CCW license number on the 4473 and letting the gun go to the customer, they hire staff to do what I can do faster. That a bureaucrat for you.

Colorado: Gun Grabbers in the Legislature Continue to Add to Their Rights Infringing Agenda This Session (http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2013/1/colorado-gun-grabbers-in-the-legislature-continue-to-add-to-their-rights-infringing-agenda-this-session.aspx?s=&st=&ps=)

Earlier this week, state Representative Lois Court (D-6) stated that she will pursue legislation this session that would unnecessarily burden law abiding gun owners with a $10.50 fee for the state mandated background check for each firearm transfer. The cost of this background check, which is conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), is currently covered by the state.

CBI is 1 of only 12 states running this type of duplicative state check, as an overwhelming majority of states rely upon the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to clear purchases of firearms through licensed gun dealers. This duplicative and unnecessary program will cost taxpayers over $2 million this year, yet when tasked with responding to a higher than average demand of volume, CBI has failed to show its true value.

With NICS being used to conduct criminal records checks for purchasers of any modern firearm from a gun dealer in every state, state checks are obsolete and wasteful of scarce fiscal resources. Imposing a gun tax -- or a "user fee" on a constitutional right -- on firearm purchasers to subsidize an unnecessary and duplicative program is the wrong solution to this problem. If such program is a public safety measure, then the public as a whole should pay for it and not just law abiding gun owners. The better solution is to repeal the CBI checks and have firearms transfers subject only to NICS.

In addition to considering the imposition of a gun tax on firearm purchasers, state legislators are proposing a wide variety of gun restrictions this session in an attempt to severely limit your gun rights in the Centennial State. There has been serious discussion by some Democrats in the Colorado General Assembly to ban commonly-owned semi-automatic rifles, ban “high capacity magazines,” restrict private firearm sales and reverse the state Supreme Court ruling on Campus Carry. These misguided proposals are an affront to our constitutional rights as law-abiding citizens.

The battle in Denver that lies before us to protect our gun rights begins next Wednesday, January 9. This will be an assault on our Second Amendment rights unlike one we have ever seen. As gun owners, sportsmen and supporters of the Second Amendment, we urge you to contact Governor John Hickenlooper and your state legislators TODAY and respectfully express your opposition to restrictions to your lawful gun rights.

There seems to a decent supply of handguns at reasonable prices. I've been to a few places with a nice stash of AR's but they all start around $2700 and go up from there.

The gun I picked up for myself was one I ordered on December 21 through Gallery Of Guns.

Went to Sportsman's Warehouse in COS, with a friend, who was picking up a pistol (took 9 days to clear CBI). I was really surprised. No, AR's of course, very few pistols on display, maybe 25 or so, very few magazines, and the only ammo they had in volume was shotgun shells and 45 auto. No 9mm ammo at all and no .22lr. They did have a good amount of long guns and shotguns left.

They've been wiped for weeks. Last friday I guess they had 50 people in line for the door to open in the morning. Trucks show up on Friday, I guess they didn't even bother putting things on shelves, just threw it all on a table and let people go after it. It was all gone by noon. They hadn't hiked prices, so I bet most of that stuff was on armslist by the evening.

Wonder what all the shops with $3k AR's are going to do if a ban does materialize?
