Had an interesting surprise last night in that my 2002 F250 PSD lost Reverse, 3rd and 4th gears. Overdrive light is flashing, which is supose to indicate a problem, but the Autozone guys couldn't read that code (was told that might be the case). So, I'm feeling I should get in to somewhere and I was hoping for any recommendation of something more reasonable than taking it to a dealer service shop. Somewhere NE Denver would be preferrabel; Thornton, Brighton ish area.

Any recommendations you know to be reputable would be appreciated. Happy Holidays.

I should also ask if anyone has a code reader that does transmission codes I'd bring along a couple of boxes of PMC .223 for your troubles. Has to be somewhere kind of close because I only have 1st and 2nd gear.

First thing is to check fluid level.

Have the fluid flushed and the filter changed before you spend mucho $$$ on a major repair. How many miles on the truck??

Did it "just go"? If so you might have a bad solenoid or two. WIsh I could help more but I am not near Henderson,

I work @ ATS.

My first guess would be solenoid pack if it was just random.

Thanks Eric. I'll give him a ring Monday morning. I can probably make it to Ft Lupton in 2nd gear.

First thing is to check fluid level.

Yup, that was my first check and it was just slightly low but nothing that would (I don't think) cause this kind of issue.

Have the fluid flushed and the filter changed before you spend mucho $$$ on a major repair. How many miles on the truck??

200K miles. I've heard this suggestion as well but most folks associated that to problems that slowley came on and mine was rather abrupt.

Did it "just go"? If so you might have a bad solenoid or two. WIsh I could help more but I am not near Henderson,

Yes, was working fine and I then just happened when I started it Friday eveing. I'm hoping for the solenoid issus myslef and that's why I want to get the codes read; don't want to just start swapping out parts without some direction.

+1 I hope you're right vs. new tranny

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably try the shop that Eric suggested Monday morning, if not that, then I'll go up to Brighton ford to get the "official" diagnosis for $145 [dig]
