The Senate on Friday renewed government power to eavesdrop without a warrant on overseas e-mails and phone calls of suspected foreign terrorists and spies. This means secret surveillance can continue for another five years if President Barack Obama, as expected, signs the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.Sen. Mark Udall and other Democrats and Republicans fought unsuccessfully to make changes that would have forced the government to estimate how many Americans have had their communications collected without court approval. They lost 52 to 43, and senators then gave final approval in a 73-23 vote."I have serious concerns about the U.S. Senate's decision," Udall said in a statement. "We cannot undermine the very Constitution we have sworn to support and defend."The warrantless spying started after the 9/11 attacks. In 2008, senators set a legal framework that let federal agencies intercept e-mails and monitor phone calls of suspected enemies abroad without judicial approval as long as investigators reasonably believe at least one party in an exchange is outside the United States.National intelligence chiefs say the law allows targeting of only non-U.S. people. However, critics have been pressing for details on how the surveillance works and asking whether agencies that sweep up communications of Americans when targeting foreign parties later can scrutinize all the communications they have collected and stored.

Really? You have been helping write bills that will do exactly that with crazy bitch Feinstein. How in the hell can ANYONE believe a damn word out of his mouth when he does one thing and says another? [Bang]

Yes, fuck Udall. Too little, too late.

Overall, what a stupid, pointless waste of time for him and his buddies to even seek such a thing. Rand Paul requested, and was given, this exact information earlier this year. As the number of times the fed had violated our Fourth Amendment right is considered "confidential," Sen. Paul could not pass along to us the exact number. He instead told us it was in the neighborhood of a "gazillion." Not a real number so he can't get in trouble, but illustrates the outrageously high number of times. We should be livid and demanding accountability if it was even one time. I can't find the video of Sen. Paul giving this speech to the Senate, but here is a succinct article (http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/09/gazillions-that-number-times-our-government-has-spied-on-americans-since-11/) on the subject by Judge Napolitano.

Want to maintain the oath you took to uphold and defend the Constitution, Sen. Udall? Pour all your energy into having the Patriot Act repealed as the unconstitutional, Stalinist POS it is. Don't sleep until it is done. That will be a good start down the path to redeeming yourself.

Maybe we should be working on getting a real Senator to replace him someone that listens to people from the bottom up not someone who sits on Obama's lap and does whatever he wants.
