For inventing the internet!!!
(that is what we call an "attention step") [blah-blah]
Any ways...I was in high school and in Commiefornia when the last AWB was passed through dem controlled government trifecta. I have hopes that that won't happen again but I can see a few Rs caving here and there and we could see a bastardized AWB from what, the woman I shall not speak her name ever, wants to pass.
What I am curious to ask our most distinguished gentleman here (also known as old people) what do you think with Al Gore's most ingenious invention, the internet, has done for both sides of the argument? Do you think there is more social awareness and involvement than what happened in '94? Did our side not see it coming back then as easily? Did our side think that the last AWB wouldn't pass through. More just curious how our side fought back (and lost) last time and if the WWW is helping or hurting in comparison.
FYI: I have already shot off my fair share of emails to local/state/federal representatives due to the suggestions made in here. Danke!

Which ones? I've already written all the Colorado Dems very "strong but fairly worded" letters, do I need to write all the Repubs too? Easy as cut&paste and email.
P.S. As for AlGore, not defending him by any means, but... http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp

Can't name names. I surfed some other boards where people have thrown out a few examples where Rs have stated some compromising language-I would have to go back and dig. I actually think if the bill is to extreme you'll see more middle of the road Ds balk at it.
As for Al Gore/internet--just like having a little fun. [Ban1]
Can't we just Ban Bloomberg?

Why don't they just ban crime.... Surely making breaking the law illegal will solve the problem ....
Clublights - YOU ARE ON TO SOMETHING! Oh my goodness, why didn't they think of that! That would solve all the problems at once!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! That my friend is awesome! I'm surprised they haven't done that yet!

The Internet is a great tool for spreading information and teaching people. Unfortunately, as someone once said, "you can't teach stupid" so it does NOTHING for our side of the argument. It doesn't matter what facts you put across, how well you reason, how many people agree with you when they feel they're doing the best for everyone and they feel afraid. Afraid of guns, afraid of people who can use guns, afraid of people who think for themselves.

Yes, some of the (Rs) at the state level are derelict when it comes to the 2nd.

I was 5 the last time an awb was passed, I wont be alive or in compliance for the next one. Happy new years.

That's surprising in this big outdoorsy "Sportsman's State"! Guess Columbine wreaked havoc regardless, ugh.
