I did as well but do you really think he will read any of it? I guarantee all these emails get sent to the bit bucket by some automated filter. The magazine ban put forth by Diana Degette looks like it will actually get to the House floor for a vote. This does not bode well. The House was the only place that was even remotely friendly to the 2A. Guess we are about to find out just how much clout the likes of the NRA and GOA have.

I believe the numbers rule. I know from a recent experience that the WH watches the petitions at BS.gov. Just like any ceo of a corporation politicians have no clue what goes on in the real world but they do get updates from their assistant's. If they receive 3 to 1 emails/letters/calls for a certain topic from their voters it will carry more weight then if we just stand here playing pocket pool. Anyone not writing or calling is voting for more gun control.

I don't want to look back a year from now and wish I had done more. They may not ever see the light of day....but I can't risk taking that attitude right now.

I understand your view. I'm just being a realist. I too took the time to write even though I know none of my state or federal representatives will actually ever read my words. I can only hope the checks I wrote to the NRA and GOA help do the lobbying that matters.

I see you faltered on the fiscal. Do what is right, and what is safest for the nation. You must uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.

I take my Oath to the Constitution very seriously and will do whatever necessary to defend it. As should you.

State reps have been pretty good so far about replying personally to my emails, particularly those that agree with my position.

Yeah, I too always get responses...usually just a "Fuck-You-Very-Much" type of prepared response.

Here's my reply.

Fact: NYC has a revolving door policy when it comes to felons who are arrested and found in possession of a firearm. Based on 120 continuous years of Law Enforcement in my family.
yet Mr. Bloomberg has a personal vendetta against gun ownership.

Fact: 500 violent murders in Chicago for 2012 Yet Cook Cty has one of if not the most stringent gun laws in the country.

Fact: My brother Senior Special Agent XXX XXXXX was killed by friendly fire 12/31/2011. While intervening in an armed robbery of a drug store. The Released from Prison FELON who served 20 of his 41 years alive was written up numerous times the 6 months prior to his release, for assault against Correction officers, fellow inmates, Possession of weapons & drugs. YET the parole board saw fit to ignore these serious infractions and release him in to society.

Fact: The man in webster ny was a recently released Violent felon who ambushed volunteer firemen, killing 2.

What do all the above have in common?
A weak on crime judicial system and hypocrites who talk gun control, However fail to maintain the safety of it's citizens on a daily basis.

I contacted him and sent the same "I don't support gun control and neither should you" (paraphrased of course) letter I sent to everyone else. One question though: why are we sending this stuff to the Boner? Isn't he allegedly already on our side with this issue? Kinda like if we all sent Molon Labe postcards to Rep. Holbert. . . preaching to the choir a bit.

That's been my experience when it comes to Federal Reps and Senators. Colorado State Representatives and Senators have proven much more responsive.

It reminds him that there are consequences for "compromise".

I wouldn't count on that. There are already traditionally pro-gun Republicans saying they are open to discussions on gun control. A mag ban has been put forth in the House and it looks like it won't die silently in committee. I think people feel the Speaker needs to be encouraged to keep his people in line.

Yeah, I'll buy that. That's why I went ahead and contacted him anyway. They're all supposed to represent us and not their party's/personal agendas, but we see how well that's going. As has already been posted, I'd hate to think later down the road that I could have done more.
