Just got a F___ You Very Much response from Perlmutter - he's a bigger douche than I thought!
January 4, 2013
Dear xxx,
Thank you for contacting me about the shooting in Newtown and gun safety legislation. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue because it enables me to better represent the beliefs and values of our district.
My position on this issue is consistent. I support responsible and legal gun ownership. At the same time, incidents like the Connecticut school and Aurora Theater shootings are horrible tragedies, and I support reasonable crime control laws.
Since the Aurora Theater shooting in July, I have been coordinating closely with members of the House and Sen. Dianne Feinstein to prepare a responsible bill to enact an improved assault weapons ban and assault clips ban. I will introduce this bill with Sen. Feinstein and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy at the beginning of the 113th Congress in January. This bill will strengthen the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004. This effort will outlaw the future sale of assault weapons while respecting the 2nd Amendment rights of responsible gun owners by exempting many firearms used for sport, hunting and personal defense. Additionally I am a cosponsor of H.R. 308, the Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act, which bans the sale of a magazine or similar device which has a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition. I am also a cosponsor of H.R. 6241, the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, to prevent individuals from purchasing large amounts of ammunition over the Internet.
It's time to do more than have a conversation about crime control and mental health issues. It is Congress's responsibility to lead, and it's time for me to take action. This is about crime control and doing what we can to deter and ultimately prevent the kinds of tragedies we've experienced all too often in the last few years. This effort must include a discussion about treating mental illnesses and other ways we can reduce violence in our communities. We may agree or at times disagree on these different issues, but I believe Congress should come together to enact responsible changes. Rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind as debate on these issues continues in Congress.
I encourage you to continue to contact me about the issues important to you. Aaaaaand you were excepting.......... ?
You cannot respect the 2nd amendment and at the same time make more unconstitoutional guns laws. I will only respect the constitution and until they amend it, I will keep and bear any arms.
Plain and simple, they do not care about the American People, they care about their own agenda. The DOJ said the last AWB did not change anything, and these people think that was simply because they didn't legislate enough restrictions.
An AR-15 IS for personal defense. What Perlmutter and the rest of them want is for us to be hindered at our own self-defense. They know that criminals will not abide by the law. They have no intent on ending crime. They simply wish to disarm the American People one step at a time...
Looks like an automated response.
Now you're probably on their mailing list and will get to hear about all of the wonderful gun-grabbing stuff he's doing going forward.

Gota love the blanket letter from that [ahole]. I think it's the same no matter what government department one writes to.
It's funny every time I see someone saying write your "BLANK" and then you guys all get back the same response.

I agree. This is why it almost seems pointless to write our congressman/senator/etc. They don't give 2 [pileoshit] about our pro-gun/pro-2nd Amendment stance as it does not further their cause. These people in our government who are against us owning black rifles and high-capacity magazines are scared shitless of us. If they could rub 2 brain cells together between them all, they would be understanding of reason and logic. All they care about is pleasing the scared sheep who know jack & squat about our firearm community and our way of life. They are basing this movement to ban our guns and our magazines on fear...nothing more, nothing less. It's a knee-jerk reaction to recent massacres in our society where the madman used a gun. We can't fix their stupidity, ignorance or hatred towards us. All we can do is wait and see what sensless punishment we are to receive when the shit blows over. God bless us all because in the end, that's all we've got...us & God.

A couple of hundred or even a couple of thousand to respond to in a form letter is nothing for their staff and interns to handle. Getting inundated with letters and post cards in the 10's of thousands is impossible to overlook. They still may do what they want, that's just how the system works. But, it clearly says, "you do this and you will be unemployed and replaced with someone who will listen and undo your stupidity."
You know there has to be a way out of this. It is obvious that your letters will have absolutely zero effect on his position and thereby have no effect on his future contributions to these legislative movements. Is there a way to twist the words of this response and get them out there making him look really bad stirring up a big controversy? Maybe that will get him to open his damn eyes for a second.
I believe that Mr. Ed Perlmutter is saying that he intends to treat mental illness by banning mentally handicap people from co-existing with the rest of us law abiding folk. In fact I think that he is eluding to the fact that it is going to be written into the assault weapons ban that they be banned and stored in a safe facility with the scary assault clips. Ed Perlmutter hates handicap people and wants them banned from the United States. That is how I read it anyway.
" This effort will outlaw the future sale of assault weapons while respecting the 2nd Amendment rights of responsible gun owners by exempting many firearms used for sport, hunting and personal defense."
He either doesn't comprehend what the 2nd Amendment is for, or knows what it's for and is deliberately undermining it. I believe he's like the rest of the turds and it's deliberate. Elections have consequences.
The second amendment exists so that we can protect ourselves from people like him who would seek to undermine the constitution and circumvent the principles that founded our country.

Freaking liberal Jews, you would think after the crap they endured in Nazi Germany, that they would think with reason. I have good friend who is a conservative Jew, I just wish she was in office...:(

The best possible outcome...
Fuzznuts, er, the Honorable Mr. Perlmutter gets about a zillion constituent letters saying "knock that shit off."
He then goes to his party's leadership and says "I'll make some gun control speeches, but if we seriously push this bill I'll be slaughtered in the polls in 2014."
Which leads to that wax sculpture of a House Minority Leader arranging for his bill to die in committee.
(The alternative outcome: Perlmutter pulls his stunt and gets the same thing that Betsey Markey did after Obamacare: a consolation-prize undersecretaryship in the Department of Agriculture as a payoff from Obama for taking a principled stand that resulted in his being thrown out of office.)
Which is why drowning his interns in letters (not emails. Real letters.) is even more important. I don't worry about Cory Gardner or Mike Coffman doing the right thing. And I have absolutely no delusion of Diana Degette or Jared Polis being afraid of losing an election. Perlmutter is at least a little bit electorally vulnerable, and he knows it.

Vote them all out!!
The districts are gerrymandered so that the opposition is divided. Most candidates these days only have to appeal to one party. The idea of the people being "represented" in government is an ugly joke.
