We will be starting the 3-gun/multi-gun matches at Lake George on April 26th. That is the fourth saturday of the month. I will post a schedule for the year in the near future for all those who are interested. For info and the rules, you may go to the web-site and check it out. www.coloradocowboys.net The big change this year will be that you may now use ball ammo for your pistol. Lead or ball ammo for the pistol, lead or fmj for the carbine, and regular birdshot for the shotgun. There are no long distance targets in this match. Most carbine targets are CQB type stuff where the average distance can range from a couple of yards to 30 yards, with the farthest being 75 yards. You will be shooting at steel and cardboard. Entry fee is 15.00 and there is usually 4 or five stages. It is held at the M Lazy C Ranch which is about 4 miles west of Lake George on HWY 24. A map to the range is on the website. Sign up will begin at 8:30 and the match will start around 9:30 . If anyone is interested or has any questions, you may contact me here or at 55fmj@comcast.net Thank you

Only a month to go. You still have time to get your gear together.

I hope to be there.

I might be too, if I can convince Tom to let me tag-along.

All I ever practice is long stuff.

Come on out ! There are no long shots in this match. All close stuff. It is a lot of fun, and it is the only monthly 3-gun/multi-gun match in this area. Let me know if you have any questions.

I think I'll try to make this match.

Just don't tell my ex-girlfriend. She lives up that way...

Although it doesn't say it in the rules, you can now use ball ammo in addition to lead for your pistol. Just not hollowpoints. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link, Al. Unfortunately the ammunition rules make it difficult for me to show up. As I have either steel jacketed FMJ or hollowpoints for my rifle.

Just go to Sportsmans Warehouse or Wal-Mart and pick up a box of the Winchester "white box" 55 gr. fmj stuff. A box of 100 should be enough to get you through the match. If you need more, I'll give you some. ( .223 )

.223 ?

I thought the rules said "carbine" ... I was gonna bring my K31 [ROFL1]

I could bring the FAL. I am going to try and make this. Be my first time on a 3-gun match but what the hell. Just go slow and steady and be safe.

I am not to big on bringing the AR so would an SAR-3 work? That and the 1911 along with the 870 should do it.

The most common rifle round you see at this match is .223 , but some guys show up with 308 ( which beats the hell out of the steel targets ) and there are a few guys that bring some sort of 9mm carbine. You see the full range of pistols being used ( I use a 1911 ) and all sorts of shotguns. A few Benelli's, 1100's, 870's, 590's, Winchesters, etc.. Whatever you have, bring it and shoot it. Just be safe. All targets are close and most are big. We want this to be a fun match. We are really trying to get the word out about this match so it will grow, so I hope that you all come out and give it a try. Sign up will start at 8:30 and the match will start around 9:30. We'll have a quick meeting about the rules and procedures that we need to follow at our range, and then we'll start the match. Hope to see a lot of new faces.

how much ammo will be needed for each firearm?

TINCUP AL
04-17-2008, 07:41
I would say that 100 to 150 rounds of pistol , 100 rounds of rifle , and a couple of boxes of shotgun shells should get you through the match. Bring more if you think you might miss a few targets.

Whats considered "soft point ( rifle )" ammo?

TINCUP AL
04-18-2008, 07:39
Soft point is anything other than fmj or ball ammo. Surprisingly enough, soft points seem to do more damage to the steel than the fmj's do. Also, no shotgun slugs are needed for the upcoming match. Just regular birdshot. Hope to see you there.

For all who are planning to shoot the match this Saturday, we have an updated round count. Since it appears we are going to have several new shooters to this match, the round count won't be as high as originally planned. I would say it will be more like 75 rounds for pistol, 75 rounds for rifle, and 35 to 40 rounds for shotgun. Targets will all be big and close, and fun. See you out there on Saturday.

That or you probably put a 16gauge slug in a 12gauge shotgun. WHO WOULD EVER DO THAT!...

Is the range on the ranch property or just off the highway someplace. Never been there before and was wondering.

TINCUP AL
04-23-2008, 16:48
It is on the Ranch property. Turn off of hwy 24 at the M Lazy C ranch sign and follow it all the way back to the ranch. It is about a mile. Check in at the office/general store.

Fun match.

Three out of four stages used all 3 guns. And the one that didnt use all three, used two.

I am pretty critical, but dont have any input. Keep up the good work Al.

See you next month. Maybe you can drag Kimball out...

wind whipped up pretty good and blew down some walls on a couple of stages and it stayed cold, that they called the match at AGC..

I want to thank everyone for coming out to this match. Although the wind was a little cold, it seemed that everyone was having a good time. I met several new people, and everyone had a great attitude. I liked the fact that everyone offered to help with something. I hope to see you all come back for more matches ! Great bunch of guys. I e-mailed the scores to Hoser, and I am trying to figure out how to post them here. Thanks again -Al
