Simple question I need a straight answer to. I'm finding info saying its OK and some saying its not.
Basically I have an Cali buyer for the upper I have listed, he wants the mags shipped broken down. Is that legal?

Parts kits or 'rebuild' kits are a common method for circumventing California's backwards laws.
For example:

Perfect for those that live in California or other restricted areas where you can own repair and replacement magazine rebuild kits.
I can't comment on the legality of it when it is done person to person though.
The confusion with items like this is why some on sites like armslist will post "no sales to CA" on their ads if it even remotely resembles something banned there.

I turned down several California buyers for the mags I had listed on Arms list. Right or Wrong I didn't want to risk ending up in trouble.

Safest way to do it is to ship it to a border jumper in mexico and let them hand deliver it to your buyer....just a thought! [Jail] (couldn't find a smiley jumping a fence-bummer)

I am not comfortable doing it but as long as they are broken down it is legal.

I don't ship anything Mag related to Cali as I don't want to deal with it, but to be legal it has to be what is considered a rebuild kit (ie broken down into parts)

This is what I was gonna do. I'm gonna go this route after a little more research

It is perfectly legal to ship rebuild kits to cali just make sure you take the mags apart. Tons of vendors that have a lot more to loose ship rebuild kits to cali everyday.
Have you tried asking those guys over at calguns?
