View Full Version : Bulk food supply for SHTF
Does anyone know a good place to get food to stock up on? I would like to get just enough to were I know I could feed my kids and wife if/when the stuff hits the fan. I was looking at Foods.com and like what they have, I just do not want to pay for shipping. I am basically looking for a place I can drive to and pick up the same type of food they have. Also I would like to know were I could by things like wheat and rice that are still good to eat but are past the date of sale, usually you get a pretty good discount that way. Thanks for your help.

Next time you stop by jim's garage, ask him to show you his bunker underneath. I shop my long term food, MRE, gas masks, NBC suits in his bunker. He ran out of tactical bacon last month, hopefully he restocked it when I am over in couple weeks. If he refused then your next best bet are:
Feed store
LDS store
Asian store
Sam's Club/Costco
Middle Eastern or Indian groceries
Just don't bother buying any MRE's at Jax anymore.
Costco, or Pacific Ocean Market off 120th.
I played 1000 bucks at Costco for there one year supply.....if I had to do it again I would go throughout the lds church

I have a buddy who is LDS. We discuss both ways to spend money, guns and prepping. The LDS locations are all great, great products, prices and service. (if only there were a p-word for "services" that would have been really cool [Bang])

You played? That must have been the problem... For a 50lb bag of brown rice I only paid $20...

I go to Costco for salt, sugar and canned items, I buy direct from a farm in SE colorado for bulk wheat (50lbs bags), I buy direct from a farm in Greeley for beans and legumes.

Ill be checking out LDS this week, never knew. I bought 50lbs of rice and 25lbs of beans from Costco and bought some food grade 5 gallon buckets with lids, mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. Also got a big thing of Honey (It never goes bad). Hopefully they have powdered eggs and milk.

I have refrained from the gouging comments per the mods message but I did see an $8000 AR on there today. I guess since the current going rate is 2-5K that would make 8K gouging, even in the current market.
Honey may not go bad, but it will crystallize on you. Just have to heat it up. Planning on heading to the LDS store in Aurora this weekend. I also have malted grains like barley and wheat along with dried hop pellets in long term storage to make sure brewing is still available if SHTF.

Yes it is a little old but some of the FNG's might think about it.[Flower]
