View Full Version : Where is the lack of civility leading?

We have all seen the incredible devisiveness spawned since the 2008 election. I liked the speech Beeho made after the Gabby Giffords shooting, where he called for civility and a more reasonable tone in the national discussion. Then, days afterwards when several dem politicians and some in the media started accusing the Tea Party as responsible for the shooting, Beeho was completely silent. Since then we have seen the left emboldened and the tone of discussion/rhetoric going straight downhill.

I've even seen this trickle down to my own neighborhood, where a few Beeho supporters (signs in their yard or on their cars) won't even return my glance to say hi - where they used to before the election (I did have a Romney/Ryan sign in my yard). Ive also seen some libs in the extended family act in a more hostile fashion than before when discussing almost anything.

This has me thinking about the path we are on, and where it will lead? On the Federal level, I see nothing that would improve the dialogue, but possibly further degradation. I'm thinking the dems might well continue to win the presidential elections with the large and increasing entitlement class. No telling who the next prez will be, but could be someone as devisive as Beeho.

I guess the default answer might be "status quo" and we will remain a really divided country until something cataclysmic happens, like a collapse of the dollar or economy. Of course, things might get really bad after that, or maybe stay the same.

Perhaps another answer is violent times are ahead? Current events in the wake of Sandy Hook might indicate a strong possibility of gross overreach by liberals including prosecution of gun owners, confrontation, and attempts to confiscate firearms. Some of the extreme talk has me concerned.

Perhaps another answer is the dialogue will improve and we will become a united country. I just don't see that, given where we are now. Maybe after something like a civil war, I dunno.

Lastly, could the nastiness and division lead to some sort of actual civil war? Might make for an interesting movie, but I don't think the country wants that.

I guess my prediction is pretty much status quo and possibly some violent local episodes in bigger cities. What say you?

We're years overdue for another civil war in this country. It's just a matter of when. That's my tin foil hat theory.

I'd argue the serious divisiveness started in 2000 with the leftist media's "destroy Bush at any cost" campaign.

I foresee substantial cash rewards in exchange for tips about unregistered/contraband guns. I think Crimestoppers pays informants to let them know about criminals who are carrying guns they are not supposed to have . . . but if it becomes a criminal act simply to possess a hi-cap mag for your pistol or over 100 rounds of ammo, I think they'll pay out thousands of dollars if they can show an "arsenal" of evil black guns and a "stockpile" of ammunition in green metal cans.

If this occurs, your Liberal associates who are being "uncivil" and "rude" to gun owners today will be burning up the phone lines hoping to CASH IN on your misfortune tomorrow. If you inform on a dozen of your neighbors, relatives, or co-workers they might even give you a certificate suitable for framing . . . but first they'll need to think of a fancy title that sounds nicer than "bootlicking snitch" . . . perhaps "Concerned Citizen Hero"?

I concur. A simple search of certain key words will put you in a plethora of sites that speak of where this topic is heading.

That what the coin was?

I'm not sure what "coin" you mean, but the "millions for defense..." and "No, no, not a sixpence" are both attributed to the XYZ Incident with the French.

Maybe this is all just part of their plan... The end-game won't be pretty.
