My wife is a lefty and she is going to get her concealed permit. She does not care for the glock style striker fire systems and would like a safety. I have found it very hard to find a conceal gun with a safety and even harder to find one that an ambi safety. Any suggestions to my wife situation?

The MP Shield has a manual safety

IMO, you will be better off getting over the "don't like striker fired guns" and the need for an external safety in this situation. There are literally little to no guns as you've described for a lefty in a carry size. You've essentially secluded your choices to a very expensive customized 1911 or some obscure oddball gun.

I'm in the same boat as a lefty. Maybe get her a lcp or something with a heavy double action or revolver.

As a lefty I agree with this 100%. I'm also slighty uncomfortable without a safety, too. I put my mind at ease by carrying with an empty chamber most of the time and being very aware of that fact. I'd also say my daily life is extremely low-risk so I have no problem with that.

I also disagree with getting an M&P shield because it's got a small, low-profile safety on the wrong side. Probably great for the "normals" but bad for people like me and your wife.

I carry an M&P 9c which is a little fatter than I'd like it to be in a perfect world but I love everything else about it. There are plenty of good choices if she takes a manual safety off the checklist.

I'm lefty and have carried a Beretta 92fs, Springfield Micro Compact, and now a Kimber Pro Carry II with no issue and no personal customization.

There are ambi safeties avaialble on the EAA (http://eaacorp.com/) Witness guns. I Have an old Witness 9mm sub-compact and love it.

I'm a lefty who likes his manual safety and doesn't prefer stiker fired weapons. I went with the Walther PK380 (we bought it for my wife but she doesn't want to carry so I gladly absconded with it for my own use). It has both ambi safety and mag release and is hammer fired. You can also carry it cocked and locked so always have that SA trigger pull (though there's no decocking mechanism other than thumbing down the hammer). Recoil is much much better than any other .380 I've fired. It's small but it's not a pocket pistol.

Sig P238 (.380) or Sig P938 (9mm) both are 1911 style and have Ambi safeties and are small CC type semi autos.

Not sure what caliber you are looking for but look at the walther P22 or PK380. I love them both, small, ambi-safety and ambi-mag release. wife uses the P22 i use the PK380 for our CCW's

CZ 83 has an ambi safety. Difficult to find holsters other than generic nylon unfortunately.

What are your thoughts on Bersa Thunder Concealed Carry? She has held it in her hand and likes the feel of it, it is the right size (she thinks) and she likes the finger groves, She would get it but the safety is hard to get off and on. What about Bersa in general? I don’t mind cheap guns but I just dont know much about Bersa.

Does anyone else carry a Kimber solo? It is a striker fire but it has an ambi safety. I have a Kimber TLE II and love it but a bit big for her to carry.

One more questions, what round would you suggest? My personal feeling she should get a 9mm, do to availability, cheapness and recoil, but I am open to 380 even though if she found a 45 she liked I would go this route. Your thoughts?

every store i go in to looking for ammo always has 380 available, more so than 9mm currently, and pricing seems to be right at 9mm price, maybe a little less depending on what you buy. I know a lot of people on here think it is too small of a round, but with the right type of round i don't think it is. I think 380 is a great Concealed carry round, the different pistols that use that round all seem well liked by users and usually have plenty of accessories to go with them. of course my opinion since i mostly use 380 and i love the pistol that uses 380. also have other caliber pistols but really like the 380 for carrying.

The CZ 83 is the same size as the Bersa and seems a better fit and finish to me, that said a friend owns a Bersa and seems happy with it.

I personally have the Sig P938 Extreme for carry and I am also a lefty I love it. No ambi slide release but other than that functions great for a lefty. Previosly had the M&P9c great gun but more bulky.

My wife uses P238 and loves hers. They now make an ambi version of that so it looks just like the P938

My dad is also a lefty and he uses the Nano no external controls and I just switched the mag release over for him(took 1 Minute)
