Don't go and make us look bad. Show them we are not law breakers.
Denver Post: http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22334706/pro-gun-rally-at-start-colorado-legislature-could?utm_medium=facebook
With the issue of gun laws headed for what's likely to be a contentious debate at the state Capitol, gun advocates plan to rally Wednesday afternoon in a downtown park just steps from where lawmakers will gather for the start of the legislative session.
The pro-gun rally — organized by the local group Guns for Everyone — is expected draw protesters who legally carry concealed weapons.
But according to the Facebook page created for the rally (https://www.facebook.com/events/234582726675522/), some have expressed interest in breaking a Denver municipal ordinance by carrying a firearm openly.
Edgar Antillon helped organize the rally in Lincoln Park and says it's meant to be peaceful and to convey a message to legislators that individual freedoms should be protected and that gun laws don't make a difference in curbing violent crime.
Several state lawmakers (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22240006/3-colorado-lawmakers-pledge-plan-action-gun-regulation)have vowed to fight for tougher gun legislation (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22328253/colorado-legislator-looks-close-loopholes-private-gun-sales)in the wake of mass shootings at an Aurora movie theater and an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
"This is about the Second Amendment," said Antillon, who estimates between 100 and 150 people will attend the rally. "There's all these gun-law ideas being floated around, but they won't work. It's all just a knee-jerk reaction."
Antillon said that when he arrives at the downtown park — situated between Lincoln and Broadway below the broad lawn of the Capitol grounds — he'll be carrying his black Glock 17, concealed in a holster on his right hip.
"It's legal," he said, noting he has a concealed-carry permit. "This is about gun rights and freedoms."
The downtown park is located on state property, though both local and state law enforcement have jurisdiction over it. Colorado is an open-carry state, but it's illegal to openly carry a firearm in the city and county of Denver.
An official with the Denver Police Department said police will be monitoring the rally closely. When asked if police will make arrests or issue tickets the official declined to comment.
Sgt. Mike Brown, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol, said patrol officers will be on the lookout for individuals present or traveling to the rally with firearms that are carried openly.
"We'll let them know it's illegal and turn them away," Brown said.
Some posts to the rally's Facebook page indicate individuals might break the Denver law. In response to a open-carry question on the page, Neil Pashman — whose personal Facebook page says he lives in Centennial — said he would carry his firearm openly at the rally.
In a separate posting, Pashman wrote, "we should be openly carrying our high-capacity capable, semi-automatic rifles and handguns! Let thousands of us show up with loaded weapons!!! Put the fear of God into the police and the legislature, and that scumbag governor!! Let them know what will come next!!!"
Pashman did not respond to a request for comment.
Antillon said he doesn't know Pashman and does not condone the comments.
"I don't want that stuff getting in the way of our message," Antillon said.

Goddamnit...it just takes one a$$hat to do something stupid like that and make us look like loons.
Donning tin foil for a second here... but anyone else see a very big opportunity for some leftist to *push* things in some sort of false flag operation? Thankfully I have to work tomorrow and can't make it- I hope and pray it goes down peacefully.

They are called Agent Provocateurs. I believe more than 1 will be in the crowd and do 'something" while every MSM camera is (conveniently) focused on them.

Thank you Jim! That was the word I was looking for. Maybe all the good folks will be able to see it coming and keep them in check.
Someone take and send me pictures. If I was in town I would go just to document the idiots who are going to try and fuck this up -- just so I could humiliate them later.

I don't even want to think about that.

Shouldn't be too hard to locate them. They're the ones telling the media how supportive they are of "reasonable" gun laws.
If it would save one 30 round magazine, wouldn't it be worth it

Carry a concealed handgun. Openly carry a 30-round AR mag.
Carry a concealed handgun. Openly carry a 30-round AR mag.
Woah! Not in Denver! They give you metal bracelets for having those! [facepalm]
I thought 30rd mags were illegal in Denver...
They'll take them and sell them on armslist for $100 ea! LOL...
it's empty
i have no ill intent
i thought it wasn't a crime
the cops said it was ok
what other excuses did the journalist use for his 30 round mag in DC?
Fuck Denver, and fuck their laws that don't follow the rest of the state. I hope they all open carry. Nothing gets done if you protest like a pussy.

This could end badly with a few plants! While I would like to see a peaceful demonstration, I don't believe that is how it will end. I can see dpd taking a lot of guns and mags, several arrests, lots of bad press, and maybe worse. This topic is way to hot right now and it will do no good to protest, it should be left to the gun groups, politicians, and courts. A protest turned ugly will only fuel the fire.
I kind of want to go just to see how Denver LEO handle a possible influx of people open carrying... On the upside... I bet it will be a pretty safe event... After all who's going to try and rob a crowd of armed civilians... Probably the safest spot in Denver.

Only if not enough people show up. It is possible that more armed people arrive than there are officers on the Denver police force. If things are going to be half assed, they might as well not be done at all.

This is probably true. Anyone attending should remember; Denver does not allow open carry or Mags over twenty rounds. My guess is an unloaded AR or AK will cause plenty of problems. We all have to make or own choices about the right way to appear.

Sadly, I think that's a given. Watch for it on the evening news tomorrow :(
Once things are moving they can't just be stopped... Look at CU Boulders previous years of smoking out. Once the masses convene you're done.

This sounds like a complete cluster fudge.
Who is the organizer?
Who is going to talk? No one big wants to give a speech?
If it is a 'rally', if there is no speaker or cohesive message- what is there to 'rally' to?
It smells like a lefty party. They do stupid stuff like stand around.
At least make it a BBQ, or a collection for the NRA-ILA.
What is everyone going to do, stand around and give each other the 'wasssup' head nod?

I was actually considering going, but not now. Unclear who is organizing it and how they intend to operate. Waaaay too much opportunity for a**hat-ism. I'll have to watch the news tonite.
Avoiding that place like the plague. Sad that such a small percentage can give such a bad name already and they haven't even done it yet,
If your going to do something like this you need thousands of supporters not hundreds. If you had lets say 5000 the DPD wouldn't do anything and everyone would go home with there guns. It would scare the Government. And you can't just show up and loiter, you need a leader to speak.
After looking at their facebook page... They have 0 speakers. I'm not going.
Couldn't get me anywhere near that.

Owning a 30 rnd magazine isn't illegal in denver county, having it loaded on the other hand gets you in trouble.
But yeah, not a snowballs chance in hell of getting me anywhere near that gathering. It will take only one person no matter their affiliation to get this whole action moving in a very bad direction.
High emotions, Hot tempers, and public gatherings are not places that mix well. I hope it all goes as planned and remains a peaceful demonstration.
Don't go and make us look bad. Show them we are not law breakers.
Exactly, don't do things or wear stuff that ends up going viral as "Teaparty gun-nut whackjobs carrying assault weapons around babies". That's not the way to protest, don't give the anti-gunners any more ammo than they already have.

I actually want to go, and it's only a few miles from work. But after reading about there being no speakers, I'm not too sure. Who are these guys?:
Organized by local group "Guns for Everyone."
Silly name, maybe even fake, IMHO.

Im surprised at the attitude of the majority of these posts. Not going because there is no speaker? seriously? you need an appointed "leader" to speak for you to show support for your rights? Not going because I am afraid of what the .gov will do? That is precisely what those who seek to disarm us want you to feel.
I and a couple friends will be attending. We will NOT be carrying openly, toting 30 round mags and rifles slung acrossed our backs or wearing tin-foil hats.
this is going to be awesome [Pop]

Exactly my thoughts. Lots of proverbial cock being sucked in here, way to bow down and appease the left.
Not completely because no speaker, but seems very shady, unorganized. Bunch of pro-gun people just milling about? Think about it. It's only logical to question it since no one can detail what this "Guns for Everyone" group entails exactly. As soon as we have more info, that might make it a different story.
Side-note, is open-carry illegal within Denver city, but only legal out in county, and other counties? I'm confused (and uneducated obviously).
Sgt. Mike Baker, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol, said officers will be on the lookout for individuals at, or traveling to, the rally with firearms that are carried openly. "We'll let them know it's illegal and turn them away", Baker said.

It isn't so much about a speaker, but about an "organized" group that has no apparent leadership structure that already has drawn out some folks that seriously should not be out there, is inviting a problem. Be safe.

I'm bored today, so I might go and see what the fuss is about. I'll be driving up from fountain. Anybody want to carpool and split gas? :)
Open carry is prohibited within the City and County of Denver(they are one and the same, footprint-wise). The way to show people that law abiding gun owners are not a threat is to CONTINUE TO ABIDE THE LAW, not by flouting it. Obey the law, speak calmly and intelligently, be the opposite of what the media would like to depict gun owners as. This is something that Dudley and RMGO have absolutely right.

^THIS^
For those attending, THINK about your actions calmly before emotions get the best of you. The anti-gun movement doesn't need ANY more fuel right now, please don't give it to them.

Ok. Fine the real reason is I stalked who was attending on facebook and there wasn't one good looking chick that RSVP'd. Just a bunch of grungy looking ones. See now I look shallow and creepy.
Just heard about a shooting near Park Meadows Mall this morning. More ammo for the leftist.

This is something I could get behind... most likely because it wouldn't be in the mini-police-state of Denver, and we could all bring our rifles! [Beer]

..pathetic.
Who'd be willing to speak at a coarf rally?

The Agent Provocateurs should be easy to spot. One will probably be dressed in full camouflage and ranting into a bullhorn about how everyone should overthrow the government.
