Sent an email to Bennet this AM regarding Feinstein's bill and this is the response I just received...not too happy with it and wanted to share. I just didn't find a solid position with a "backbone" to it. Maybe I'm missing something. Sad...

Dear Steve:

Thank you for contacting me regarding Senator Feinstein's assault weapons ban proposal. I appreciate hearing from you.

The numerous tragedies that our nation has had to face over the past year have been staggering. My own family, like all Americans, has been repeatedly shocked and deeply saddened by the violence we have witnessed, and my heart continues to be with the victims and their families. As Coloradans, we know how this type of tragedy can shake a community to its core and in the aftermath of these abhorrent acts our priority should be on supporting the survivors and families, and healing our communities.
We must have a real discussion in this country about finding ways to stop these senseless shootings. I believe a combination of improved access to mental health services, restrictions on certain weapons intended for the battlefield, and elimination of the gun show loophole are sensible steps that can protect our communities and particularly, our children. In Colorado, we support the right to bear arms and the ability of people to recreate, hunt, and protect their homes, and we want to keep the wrong weapons out the hands of the wrong people. I believe our state can come together to have a civil discussion that addresses these issues and as the President's taskforce releases its recommendations to prevent and reduce gun violence, we will ensure that Colorado's voices are heard.
Senator Dianne Feinstein of California plans to introduce a bill in the 113th Congress that will prohibit the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices. The ban will include 120 specifically-named firearms and will apply to large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. The bill will also require grandfathered weapons to be registered under the National Firearms Act and will include a background check of the owner and any future transferees. Although Senator Feinstein has not introduced the bill, she has indicated that she will do so at the start of the legislative session.
I look forward to reviewing Senator Feinstein's proposal, along with others brought before Senate. Let us all continue to keep the communities affected by these tragic acts in our thoughts and prayers.

I value the input of fellow Coloradans in considering the wide variety of important issues and legislative initiatives that come before the Senate. I hope you will continue to inform me of your thoughts and concerns.

Yeah I got the same thing. Its extremely vague as to what his stance is.

x3 I'm sure we all know what his stance is. Question is how much he values his political office and if he feels gun owners posses enough power to remove him from it...

same general thing here. "I believe a combination of improved access to mental health services, restrictions on certain weapons intended for the battlefield, and elimination of the gun show loophole are sensible steps" sums it all up for me. E-N-E-M-Y

Same message I got. I don't understand the thought process of trying to pass laws that do nothing to help prevent the next nutjob wondering off into the weeds of his own mind and doing harm.

I'm glad to see so many of us are able to say we got letters back. With enough people writing the message may change. Let's hope. I got the same message from him but the aid didn't even take the time to get my name right. Also, I didn't write regarding Feinsteins ban proposal. I asked him to protect all of the rights protected in the second amendment. Honestly I didn't see anything that gave me hope in the letter.

I also got a similar letter back from Senator Udall with an equally disheartening message. No surprise there but let's keep the heat up.

We all got the same letter, I got that same letter 3 times. Which is odd cause I plastered his arse way more than that. I got a friendly "newsletter" email from Polis. Weird the little email talked about getting sworn in and listed what is on his agenda, gun control wasn't listed anywhere in his letter?

Got the same message from him as well. The NRA gave him a C+ rating, which I'm sure means "I'm all for people hunting, but nothing more" When will these people stop quoting the 2nd amendment for hunting purposes? "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." nope, nothing about hunting there. The purpose of the 2nd amendment is for MILITIA, meaning it has a military purpose, I'd say that it protects our rights to own semiautomatics almost more so than owning hunting weapons.

If her bill prohibits the transfer, then why include the requirement for the background check of any future transferees? Am I just mis-interpreting this?

Why is anyone surprised by Bennet`s response. Let`s look back to how He got where he is, the folks who run this state..(Stryker,Polis,Gill,) told Ritter who should be the replacement for Salazar. Bennet came with money backing from back east, same folks that prop up the "Looper". Ritter got his deal at CSU for not running..(He would have lost) All this add up? The only thing to do now is wait..Keep a low profile.. Bad stuff is going to happen..

Bennet is worthless. Vote his ass out next time we get a chance. none of this third party bullshit. find the person in the primary with the mindset to protect freedoms and get them in there.

I sent back a response to his response basically calling him out to stand up for what he swore to stand up for and to get the facts before blindly following the flock. We'll see what comes back on that.

Of the 7 Colorado has in DC, 4 are flat out against us, the other three are on the fence ~ their responses read both ways.

We may become another state like IL, NY, DC (I know it's not a state). An entire state ruled by 1 major city. If they don't get us on the Federal level, they are likely to do it at state level.

We have a long fight ahead on 2 fronts.

I got the same 'canned' response from Bennet. Pretty close to the same from Udall.

I believe that the statement ..." restrictions on certain weapons intended for the battlefield," shows just how little this yahoo knows. An AR-15 is not intended for the battlefield. No military branch issues AR-15's to my knowledge.

Neither Bennet nor Udall are friends of conservatives or gun owners. I have no doubt that if/when a vote comes for any type of gun control, they will both vote anti-2nd Amendment.

Perlmutter was really clear about his stance, however - Snuggled up tight with Feinstein & McCarthy [Mad]

That's understood. Politicians do not respond well to threats of that nature. The current POTUS is politically done. He does not care what the voter wants. You get a legislator in the same boat and they are going to go for the gold while they are still in office, then they can look forward to a cushy Govt retirement with full benefits, and a very profitable part time gig on the lecture and lobby circuit.

The number of politicians that actually listen to their constituents and make their vote based on that (like they are supposed to), rather than the party line, or their own personal feelings on the matter are few to none.

I have already written to Udal and Bennett. Neither one of them are on our side. They are democrats; what do you expect. They are in power and they want to do whatever they can to stay in power indefinitely and that mean disarming us.

The one I am worried about is Coffman. He is one of the few who is SUPPOSED to be on our side. We as a unified people need to rise up against them....politically of course. I am more worried about the state legislature then the federal side. Either way, if any unconstitutional laws are passed the lawsuits need to be filed immediately.

Write Coffman and let him know that you are very disappointed in the fact that he has remained quiet on this issue. Then remind him who voted him in.

Coffman supported hr822, national right to carry, in 2011, but he has been silent on the latest issues. I've not received any response from him.

Coffman whacked his own peepee when he went through the whole Oblammy not being an American thing. He had a chance to really make a statement about O not having American values but instead cowered in the corner.
He has gone to ground since..

I got the same response from Michael Bennet, at least from his office. They got my name right but damn familiar of them to jump to first names right off the bat.

Bottom line is what everyone else has said, he agrees with restrictions and is perpetuating the political BS that the 2nd has something to do with hunting and recreation.

Yep, I got the same response from Bennet, and a similar one from Sen. Mark Udall.

These guys are waffling, because they haven't heard enough from us often enough. We can't get discouraged by these responses, but rather take them as a signal that we need to keep the pressure on. I plan to email them every week (not daily, too much spam) and show up at any "town hall" events that they may have locally.

It is important to be SEEN and HEARD on this issue! Otherwise, the gun control advocates will roll over the Second Amendment.
