I was floored the other day when I was in Sportsman Warehouse. 12 Ga. Estates #8 were going for $5.99 per box! WTH they were the cheapest in the whole store. So I ran up to Gander Mnt. Federals for $6.99 per box? No way! Big 5 Sports same expensive Bull Shot! Checked Dicks on the internet and couldn't find any deals, So I thought I was going to have to settle for the Wally World Specials.. 100 rounds for 21.99 @ $5.50 per box. Not the greatest ammo in the world but WTF. Then it dawned on me ? What about Bass pro Shop? I'm glad I stopped by, they had Winchester AA Super Sport Sporting Clays 12 Gauge 2 3/4 1300 FPS 1 1/8 oz. #8 or #7 1/2 for $5.88 per box. What a BARGAIN over the other Major Sporting Goods Stores. They want $8 to $9 or more per Box for AA's. I was more than happy to pay 1 1/2 cents per round for AA's at Bass Pro rather than Feds @ Walmart. [WooHoo]

I like the Wally World Remy Promo loads. Not for the dirty loads that are in them but for the hulls.
In December they were $16.99 for 4 boxes or 100 rounds
Since I bought 400 rounds, it will be a while before I burn through all the hulls.
I can usually make 400 hulls get me through a year of sporting clays reloaded up to 6 times.

The expensive part is the reloading...particularly lead shot.
Chilled magnum shot is $65 for 25#'s or about $4/box of loaded shells for 1 oz loads not including the other components.

I've often ponder the thought of starting to reload my own shells but, I just can't justify the cost of buying all the equipment and materials necessary to reload and the space to do it is very limited. Not only that but, all the time and energy put in more hobbies would put a strain on the average joe's life style sort-of-speak. Until the prices go down I'll just have to keep on bargain hunting. That's just me thou.[Coffee]

I know some of the cost of reloading gets to the pocket but when you find deals, it's not so bad. I found 50# of shot for $10 at a yard sell two years ago, and this past summer I found another 40# for $3. I'm set for awhile but I keep looking. For me, I go thur a few hundred rounds a year and reloading is a bit cheaper and for me.....sitting and reloadiing helps me relax, no phone, no one buggin me for a couple of hours.......

I got into reloading to close holes in my pattern and to shoot cleaner.

Promo loads use cheap soft lead thats easily deforms causing holes to form in most patterns.
My using chilled magnum shot (harder) those holes just seem to disappear.

I also use Hodgdon Clays which after firing 100 rounds the gun still looks clean.

For about the same price of promo loads I can load premium loads that would cost $10 plus per box.

As far as being time consuming....not really
I have a MEC 9000G and can get make 250 rounds in 15 minutes.
Then I need to put in more shot, primers and powder.
I average about 800 rounds per hour....taking care to not make mistakes.
