View Full Version : AWB off the table... (federally)

Ronin13
01-12-2013, 22:20
I just heard today- and we should be getting the news released next week- from a very reliable source (three letter gov agency) that a federal AWB will not... let me say again WILL NOT happen. Word is that the Biden Committee and several advisers close to POTUS decided to remove the AWB plans from the table. However, magazine capacity restrictions are still being discussed and planned, as well as state legislation- such as here- we need to keep our own state reps in check.

Furthermore- Count it now- 27 LEOs I have spoken to since Sandy Hook. Of those 27 all 27 have voiced (by themselves or on behalf of most if not all of their counterparts at their respective departments) that if any legislation comes down that requires any sort of unconstitutional confiscation, IT WILL NOT BE ENFORCED.
That is all.

I honestly believe we've got 'em running scared. Exposed. They'll take anything they can get. Which should be nothing. Let's continue pushing back. They tested the waters and are scared of what they saw. DF is so out of touch she'll continue to push but she's tainted now. Nobody wants to be connected to her right now. The overwhelming public response to these tragedies has been to buy more guns and ammo. They know where the votes stand.

I really believe her bill is going to be so extreme there is no chance for it to pass. I do agree that the mag ban is coming though and while I don't agree with it I think it's going to be difficult to stop it. Especially if they grandfather existing mags.

Now $1000 BCGs scare the crap out of me.

Sorry if under threat of prosecution I can't say what agency, name or anything else- and for the fact that is "as-yet-unreleased information". Next time you want to make a comment based on a idiotic opinion, go to FB. Quite obvious you have no idea how reliable, yet anonymous/secretive source information is. I'll give you a hint- it's partly responsible for a bearded guy who is responsible for the death of 3,000 Americans was found and taken out.

My thinking is that perhaps she introduced such an extreme bill so that she would have leverage to work out a compromise to keep both parties happy. Instead of outright banning all these "listed assault rifles" with mandatory turn-in, they could just require NFA tax stamps, restrict magazine size, grandfather, etc. Similar laws to what Commiefornia lives under. Coming out strong gives her the chance to lessen the measures described in the bill, but still infringe upon our gun rights. Just my thoughts.

Make that 28.

Also some thoughts on confiscation. It would have to be federal agents getting paid a LOT of money going door to door. The govt is very outnumbered by the liberty loving gun owners of this nation. I'm in the WY Army National Guard and also have many LEO acquaintances, yet I can't think of a single person in such a position I personally know that would be willing to take away guns from civilian owners.

I don't really care what you believe... Just sharing some information that is good news for our community- then you come in and try to undermine with absolutely no ground, knowledge, or cause, just to say "that's pretty vague..." How else is a quick blurb from someone who's not supposed to say anything about the matter speaking in confidence that his identity won't be revealed supposed to get "leaked." Obviously you have no idea how things work these days- watch the news sometime "A DOD official, speaking on condition of anonymity because they aren't allowed to discuss...." [Bang]

From yesterday as seen on Drudge and Yahoo:

"The White House says President Barack Obama is still committed to persuading Congress to ban some semi-automatic weapons, despite comments from the vice president that suggested he and Obama would instead embrace more politically popular gun reforms.

"The president has been clear that Congress should reinstate the assault weapons ban and that avoiding this issue just because it's been politically difficult in the past is not an option," Matt Lehrich, a spokesman for Obama, told Yahoo News.

Vice President Joe Biden told reporters on Thursday that he will issue a plan to the president next week to address the nation's gun violence problem. Though both Biden and Obama have voiced their support for an assault weapons ban, Biden didn't mention it on Thursday, instead focusing on proposals to close a loophole that allows gun buyers to forgo background checks and a bill to limit the size of ammunition magazines to 10 bullets. Biden also noted that many senators are opposed to a ban but are more receptive to magazine limits, according to the New York Times.

Any assault weapons ban would most likely face a tough road in Congress. President Bill Cinton, who pushed an assault weapons ban through a majority Democratic Congress in 1994, said later that the ban fueled a Republican comeback, with the party winning back the House and Senate for the first time in 40 years in the next election cycle.

Attitudes about assault weapons and gun control have also changed since the '90s: Polling shows that background checks and magazine limits enjoy majority support among the public, while an assault weapons ban does not."

First, I doubt that information would be classified.
Second, if there is a threat of prosecution to your friends, you should never have posted this. If anyone is concerned about this getting out and sees your post you could be in for an interview of a different sort. I am fairly certain your friends would not appreciate the special attention you just rained down on them.
Sometimes being "in the know" is something you should just keep to yourself. If the AWB debate turns out the way we all are hoping for, we'll all be thrilled and the result for all of us will be the same whether someone leaked it ahead of time or not.

sorry I read that link well past the first paragraph, i do not see anything promising in that article at all.

the bans will come in some form, if not an outright ban then restrictions and registration and confiscation of some guns, if you can buy an ar next year it will have major modifications done to it.

They are getting smarter, a federal law would bring major heat and even possible civil war, if they leave it to the blue states and cities to pass law's they know they will not take the heat and it would take years to make its way up to the supreme court if ever.
Look at NY, NJ, CA and others, they outright violate the 2nd and nothing has made it to the supreme court to challenge it.
This is another way to incrementally tear down the constitution.

Hell the city of Denver violates the state and federal Constitution and gets away with it. they just don't get any of my business.

I guess they got our Molon Labe post cards :)

Regardless of what is or isn't happening at the federal level, I can guarantee you that the Colorado anti gunners in the legislature and the Governor's office are still very much actively working to undermine the 2A. All of us need to be all over our state legislators and the governor's office with daily reminders that gun banning of any sort is not going to fly here.

I appreciate your thoughts and I oppose any attempts to restrict our Second Amendment rights. Unfortunately, the Colorado House and Senate are controlled by Democrats and they almost to a person believe in greater gun control. So, we will fight for you, but I believe that in the end that the Dems will get their way on this and the Democratic Governor will sign it into law.

Thanks for writing.

We need to put their votes in front of every rural and mountain person who votes for these Democrat swine...I absolutely can't believe that any gun owner (or any person who believes in liberty) would vote for them.
