Hey all, AR newbie here.

I'm not completely new to firearms. I spent most of my youth walking around the Arizona desert with a Marlin model 60, but I don't know much about my new Bushmaster or my NRA Mini. Unfortunately I did most of my research after I bought my rifles, and dove in with the Bushmaster because it's a brand name I recognized. (I bought the Mini just 'cause I wanted it) It seems clear now I should have built my own AR but that will have to wait until a little later this summer.

I took the AR to the indoor 100 yard range the other day and only managed a 5” group with iron sites and 45 year old eyes. I'm hoping I can do a little better with some practice. I have signed up for the Appleseed shoot in Canon City this month but it would be nice if I sorta knew what I was doing before I showed up.

I'm looking for info on places to shoot and perhaps even a little local instruction.

My first was a Bushmaster, not a bad first AR in my opinion. Built the second one, but probably wouldn't have enjoyed doing so if I hadn't been shooting them for a little while.

Well, that's not entirely true, I'd still have enjoyed the build but wouldn't have the experience to troubleshoot some of the problems without a couple years on a factory complete.

Anyway, welcome.
