Who sells a 16" 1:8" twist barrel with either no gas-port, or mid-length gas port?

I'd probably prefer stainless.

I'd also consider a 14.5" as an alternative.

First place I thought was RRA: http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=274

Cool. Thank you. They hadn't even crossed my mind.

I'd prefer lighter profile to "heavy barrel", but this is a good start.

Noveske has a 16.1" mid-length, but it's 1:7" twist and especially expensive.

I shoot 55gr bullets almost exclusively, with the occasional 69gr or 75gr thrown-in.

I shoot 68 grainers in my 1/9 RRA and it stablizes them perfectly...never tried the 75gr stuff.

I've been shooting Hornady 75 grain BTHPM bullets in my 1:9 Colt. They shoot pretty good.

They keyhole hard in a 1:12 26in barrel though.
