So while he's trying to take away our rights, Obama's the firearms industry's best salesperson. Such irony!

But only criminals have guns!!
Since the NICS system was established in November 1998 a total of 160,474,702 background checks were made. Of these, around .006 percent of those attempted purchases were denied and .00008% (fewer than a hundred people a year) were prosecuted for lying on the form.
Few of the comments were a little disturbing.
Dalmation: "Scaring gullible dumb people for years is finally paying off big time for the gun industry ( and their flunky Congressional supporters ) . Oh well , so be it . We’re ( the sane adults ) going to tax high powered ammunition ( and reloading supplies as well ) so highly and punitively that within a decade or so all an AK 47 will be good for is a door stop . Enjoy your ( expensive , but well built ) door stops ."
So they want to price home defense out of the budget of most people? Not to mention, what's considered high powered? I would think the 180gr rounds fired from my .300 Win short mag have a lot more power than a 7.62x39 or 5.56 NATO round.

If I understand the cited numbers correctly, it seems as if the 'normal' number of NCIS checks are expected to be approximately 1M per month. In this past November, that number doubled and in December it nearly tripled. Obama's Folly (I hope it becomes known as such) would then be directly responsible for adding at least 3 million firearms (possibly more since more than 1 gun can be purchased on a single background check) in the hands of the citizens in just a two-month period.
Obama and his crew are not dumb. Would this reaction NOT have been foreseeable, at least to some degree? If so, and I suspect it was predicted, then I keep wondering how this 'plays' in the grand scheme. Is it that they intend (or intendED) on confiscation, hence, it would not then matter to them if a bunch of guns were sold, as they plan to get them back anyway. Is it as simple as 'the law of unintended consequences' and they failed to consider the full weight of reaction to their announced intentions? I don't know (obviously) but tend to suspect the worst from this Administration on gun issues.
In any case, that is one hell of a lot of guns sold. I hope a large proportion of them are to new gun owners. While that scares the bejeezuz out of me next time I head to South Site - we *need* more citizens, many more, who have a vested interest in keeping their guns.
FWIW
At a an estimate of $500 per check I come up with over 1.3 BILLION spent on guns in December. Am I high or low in my estimate?

Probably low, I'm sure there were more than enough purchases in the 2k and up range with multiple guns on the same form that the avg is higher than 500 per. Shit that one shop in NC did a million in sales, in a single day.

People like this need to be lined up at the mass graves first.

I do love when folks post about limiting the ability to get reloading supplies, or keeping people from getting ammo. 9mm, 5.56x45, 7.62x39, 7.62x51 are the most common ammunition worldwide.
While they may not be as accurate as a fmj canulured round, I am fairly certain if someone just cast lead pills it would get the job done.

while I agree casting about anything into a bullet would work, what about powder and primers? everything in America is outsourced. I doubt most parts of the country even have the ability or knowledge to create powder and primers.
Yes, I know some of us have a good stockpile of powder, projectiles, primers and ingots, but how long can that last?
Long enough to acquire other sources of material, adapt and overcome.

Could these numbers, and god only know how many will be sold this month, be playing a role with "rumors" of not perusing a new AWB??
With the amount of firearms already owned, now add on these numbers, and the frenzy in which they were bought, did the libs get scared??
Just day dreaming.......
I'm willing to bet we can get reloading supplies in WY.

Until the media is outside your home filming the "Raid" on a Domestic Terrorist. Notice i left out ALLEGED
2012 checks = 19,592,303. Some checks will be denied a purchase and others will be for multiple firearm. I would bet its safe to say around 19 million firearms were added into the citizens militia in 2012.

You're funny.
No. Any non-fudd ammo up here is long gone, along with components and anything semi-auto. It's nice to see so many people getting into the industry, but it really makes things hard for us gun owners who just want to get a brick of .22 to plink with, or an extra box of JHPs to keep around. I have seen nothing in 9mm/40/45/.223/308 for weeks.

And that does not even count private party sales. When the rumor started spreading that private party sales might require FFL transfer nationwide, or at least in CO, everyone started dumping their extra guns ASAP. Armslist postings have quadrupled, and a lot of them are marked up well over double blue book value . . . and people are paying those prices to avoid a paper trail.
Biden says "get ready for the gun ban" and millions of people start buying overpriced untraceable guns from armslist.
It seems the People disapprove of the idea of gun bans.
.006% effective. What a tremendous waste of taxpayer resources. Let the Brady Bunch pay for it!
