View Full Version : One small request
Can I make a small request? And no, this isn't a rant. If you got a form letter from a representative/senator, check out the already 10 threads on such and discuss there before making a carbon copy thread yourself. We're all aware of the Jan 19th event, most of us plan to attend (I hope), so no need to have 5 more. And if you have some new story that you want to share/discuss, search first before starting a new thread... Please... I'm not the only one frustrated with all these reposts, just figured I'd say something. Hopefully this will be a reminder of how hard our mods work and we don't need them to always be deleting and merging threads.

There's something happening on Jan 19th? Is that related to Bidet's report to Obama and the new AWB or is it about the price gouging that I was going to create a new thread on?

WAIT, wha????? I better join NRA lifetime membership. Anyone has any info on this?
Out of ALL the forums I'm on (mostly car/truck/motorcycle), THIS forum seems to have a plague of duplicate threads / reposts every single day. On the others it's a rare incident once a week a month at most, strange...

Ohh God, I'm going to pee. :lol:Well after you pee you can explain what is going on as I have looked. If it is an event that I can support by being there I would like to know.

this really started this year, we had some new members who just wont look first. and starting with the December panic, it went full crazy with new members and hyperspastic people posting over and over and over again.
it used to not be like this.I have had the repost police get on me for some stuff, hey it is going to happen. I personally do not have time to search through hundreds of posts just to make sure it has not been posted, most of the time I try. You have X amount of people on a Forum there is going to be some duplicate threads. I do not live on here so I am not current on a lot of things going on. I am not trying to stir the pot just trying to make a point. Also I have looked for things that were worded differently than I posted and ended up being a repost, that might be a big part of it.

That's what that nifty search engine is for. The robot does all the work for ya! ;)

In Atrains defense, I tried to find that thread through the search last night but despite knowing exactly what I was looking for, I had no luck.

It doesn't help when the thread title is something super informative like "ZOMGWTFBBQ you're not going to believe this!!!. . . . ." and then you open it and it's just a link to a random blog, with no description or copy/paste effort.

If people could learn to write a thread title.

Most titles here are the beginning of the first sentence... its annoying.
If people could learn to write a thread title.
That's another thing I've noticed on THIS forum specifically. TONS of people enjoy writing those purposely vague thread titles that make you have to go look in, or just ignore them altogether. Much more than ANY other forum, strange. I've successfully eradicated that practice on my own forum CRN. Different breed of forum n0obs over here I guess, heheh. :)

This! I couldn't agree more... The last few threads have done this well, like Bert's 7 Rounds? thread- Yes, I already knew where this was going before I opened it and that's the first I've heard on the subject, but it wasn't like Teufelhund said an "OMGWTF This is outrageous" type title.

you apparently aren't commonly on ak building sites lol i can't tell you how many times i've seen millions of "how do i convert my saiga" threads so actually i don't even notice the reposts over here. the worst is the ak section over at the site that shall not be nammed
So you're saying the common denominator are gun-related sites? DOH! :D
I'm on: ColoradoRacing.com, COsportbikeClub.org, ColoradoMarine.org, SupraForums, T4R.org (4Runners), Cottora.com (Colorado Tacomas), Camaro5, & R1-forums.com (Yamaha). They're all pretty good about less "noise".

yeah i'm on ford engine forums, i think it is mainly gun boards probably since so many people are always newly entering the hobby. also on the other boards it seems there's more people that stick around and become seasoned members while gun boards probably have quite a few people that join mainly to find info on one topic and then fizzle out. i can only imagine how irritating an airsoft board would be (though i think airsoft guns are rediculous to begin with)

I think there is more news on various topics that are more concerning on gun forums. I really do not think they talk very much about the Constitution on any racing forums, just my opinion.
