I found $1550 in an old antique that I sold off to a collector. (yes i had it appraised by multiple people and they valued it at $1300, it was a vase made in germany bout 150 years ago or so) So I got a good deal.

Anyways I have the money in the bank, and I've dedicated it to firearms!

So here is what I'm thinking.

A Sig Sauer P229 Equinox in .40S&W
and
An Ak-47 Krinkov or maybee an M1 Garand...

But I'm wondering what you guys think? Any other suggestions for that 1550? What guns would you buy with that cash?

Thanks!

Ive been thinking about Garands more and more lately, but I think I'd probably go with a 16" M14 instead :)

hold off on both of those. I imgaine the new masada/ACR will be out soon. I would save for one of those if it were my newly acquire money!

If I had $1550 to spend on gun stuff, I'd spend it all on ammo, and extra parts, for the firearms I already own.

That's where I left it! Thanks for finding it for me :D

$1500? Armalite AR10, Springfield M1A, or Colt SAA in .45LC

Or
Ruger MkIII 6 7/8" tapered
+
One of those new Vaquero's in .45LC
+
Ammo ammo ammo

Or maybe a hunting rifle for my son and a Ruger No1 in .257 Roberts.

Or an accuracy job on my 700 VLS.

Or ...

This is why I usually end up paying bills with any extra money. There's just too many choices :(

If you think another AWB ban is likely stock up on lowers and 30 round magazines then sell them after a ban goes into effect.

I saw somewhere 10 stripped lowers for $800.

Thanks for the suggestions... I like the idea of ammo/AR recievers. ACR sounds good too....

What do you think of the P229 Equinox in .40S&W? Anyone have experiance with that round? I have a 9mm and feel that it's a bit too light, but i'm not sure i'm comfortable with a 6-7 round .45 acp either.... Is the .45 much better than the .40S&W? What carry round would you suggest?

A pawn shop in Littleton let me handle a P229 they had for sale...very comfortable gun, and Ive always been a fan of pistols with external hammers...the one they had was a stainless slide in .40S&W...They were asking around $600 for it, and I very much enjoyed the feel and presence it had...

OT: If there was another AWB would lowers be the item that is essentially being "banned"? For instance if you held onto one for several years, you would still be able to add uppers, collapsible stocks, pistol grips, ect ect? Being that i wasn't into guns for the last ban, how would that work? Lowers are pretty inexpensive, in the event of another AWB is that what the rush is going to be on?

And on topic, i would say grab ammo. With the way prices are rising, i don't think you can go wrong.

When Kalifornia proposed the 50 cal ban, Mark Serbu began selling receivers to folks who couldn't afford the whole gun. The idea was to get grandfathered and then buy the rest of the gun when you get the money to do so. This is a good strategy unless the gun grabbers get wind of it and amend the bill. In 1994, when the federal AWB went into effect, they only grandfathered guns that were already in the prohibited configuration. I've no doubt many privately held preban receivers got retroactively completed by leveraging a strange anomoly in the space time continuum known to frequently appear immediately following enactment of gun bans. :)

There will definutely be a run on lower recievers. There already is. Plus any black rifles, and semi's will fly off the shelf, if word of an eminent ban makes its round. I would buy some lowers, ammo/componets and some parts the firearms you have now. Bolt repair kits, and spring kits for your ar's etc.

Correct me if i'm wrong, please. But wouldn't parts still be available regardless of ban? Obviously mags, stocks, pistol grips and what not could be in demand, but parts should still be legal to sell, no?

If i'm taking this thread to off topic, i'm sorry. We can move this to another thread if needed.

I've got a Sig P229. It's not the Equinox, though. I like mine. It is my CCW. As a result, it goes almost everywhere with me. I've found it to be accurate, or, at least as accurate as I am. The Sig night sights are easily acquired in any light. I would recommend one to anyone (obviously). If you get one, I think you'll be very happy with it.

I was thinking you could get one of these now:
http://www.rubylane.com/shops/barkusfarm/item/626?gbase=1
http://www.goantiques.com/detail,rookwood-iris-glaze,1561572.html
http://www.rubylane.com/shops/darcysantiquetreasures/item/RL-85?gbase=1

All of them are really nice...

But seriously, I would pick up a nice suppressor for one of my firearms.

Lol thats funny ;)

Hrmm supressor is a good idea.... a really good idea... havent thought about it...

I have a supplier for the SIG 229 Equinox for 875 shipped, so that leaves me 600$ to play with... I should be able to get a decent supressor for that... especially if i dunt count the 200$ tax stamp and just pay for that out of pocket ;)
