If my general practitioner can (and probably will) ask me if I own firearms the next time I have a doctors visit, I want to know he's a fellow patriot. Even if I somehow believably lie to him (I'm a bad liar), I want to know my privacy is protected.
Do we have amongst us any GP's, or can anyone recommend one to me whose office is somewhere along 36, or as far north as Longmont? I'd happily drive a half hour out of my way for a physical and checkup, if I know I can trust him.

I'd be happy to know the same for a Doc in the Springs!

Just tell him to fuck off. You're actually being truthful and don't have to find another doctor.

This asking if you own any firearms in the home is not new. Back when I was cursed with Kaiser the doctor during my physical asked if I had firearms in the home. I looked her straight in the eye and said; "That is none of your business." This was like 2 years ago. Quickly they changed the subject..................

My answer will still be the same to this day but slightly changed to "Nope." done with it.

I don't have a specific one right now, so it's not like i'm really finding another one. Just looking for recommendations.

You aren't under oath when you visit your doctor.

I don't care what the law says, doctor asks me about guns I say "nope, no guns".

None of their damn business and "nope" goes a long way
Next question please...

Come on guys, I'm not oblivious to the fact I can just say "no". I'm looking deeper in to the matter, and am asking if anyone has any recommendations for a good pro-2A doctor. Enough of the "none of their business" comments. I'm with you on that. Just like any other service/profession, I like to support fellow 2A businesses and avoid the anti's.... it's that simple.

Depends on the doc. Lots of 'em will just want to go shooting with you.

I've never been asked about guns by any docs and I see a lot of them. The Bummer's latest moves are obviously designed to encourage docs to start asked and recording answers. I raised my son in Colo Spgs and no pediatricians ever asked me or him about guns but I have heard about others doing that.

It might be worth reporting it in this forum and if it is enough it could become a sticky. I'll drop any doc who makes any issue of it and I'm sure others would.

Just tell the doctor to type in this URL and please send it to the moron on your behalf.

My doc in the Springs has never asked me about whether I own guns. Dr. Mark Carroll, Alliance Urgent Care & Family Practice (http://alliancemedicalpractice.com/Home.html), 7621 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80920, 719-282-6337

All docs have a responsibility to assess suicidal and homicidal idealization. They are also legally and ethically liable for failure to report anyone that is a clear threat. This is the point of 72 hour holds. Each state calls it something different in CA it is a 5250, in other states it is a M1 hold. There is also Tarasoff.

Well keep us all in the loop about your practice. I'm sure you could garner some possible patients among our members here. Myself possibly included.

I think that the doctors should be able to provide a report to the "authorities" (per Obama EO #2) that states their medical opinion of whether they believe you are in a mental and/or medical state to possess firearms. It should not be their responsibillity to determine if you own firearms; that should be left up to other agencies, such as law enforcement.

...unless they are going to perfrom, say "hip" surgery, and your paddle holster and gun are in the way of their scalpel.

This is exactly what happens now. If you are a clear threat to yourself or a specific individual.

Dude, real doctors don't have time for this BS. Wait until it happens (unlikely) before getting excited.

Never go to the doc, and for those that need one come on up I will stitch ya, staple ya, glue ya, and operate on most anything.

Could you elaborate or provide some references?
I'd like to look into this a bit more.

Ok, so I just asked a doctor and was informed that you can just decline to answer their standard question. They are required to ask and you are no required to provide an accurate response. Just decline.

....that's the kind of doctor I want to have.

Went over to a Dr friend of ours the other night. We ended up talking about guns for an hour, about CHPs, training, politics, NTAC Obama, etc. There are many conservative doctors out there, too bad they don't list their affiliation in the yellow pages.

Not unless it's your therapist. My GP is there to assess if my cholesterol is too high or if my white-count is elevated and thereby determine if I'm physically ill. My mental health is as much their business as whether I own guns.

GP's can ask about mental health, and frequently refer people out for therapy. If they are truly concerned they call police, who then put people on 72 hour holds.

With all the chatter, I think i will restate my original question more simply.

Do any of my fellow members here know of any pro2A General Practitioners between Denver and Boulder? The closer to Broomfield, the better...
