Depending on the brand i have found sizes vary. On me that would be like a XXL.

Yeah I would say XL. 44 or 46 are closer to a large, where 38 / 42 is more like a medium

im 6'1 250 looks like a 48 is not in my future

when in doubt go big. when it comes to coats id rather have too big than too small.

A groomsmen in my wedding was about 6' 4" 250 and wore a 48L, another guy was 6' 1" about 230 and wore a 48 reg. 48 might work but you might need a 50
