California transplants and hispanic immigrants. We've gotten about a million of them in the past 15 years, and that's skewed the state from solid red to pale blue. Mostly concentrated in the Denver-Boulder axis of evil.

Tom Tancredo lost because he did not have the (R) next to his name on the ballot.

Edit, it would have been close but Hick still got more votes than the other 2 combined. His views are likely too extreme for the modern CO.

Do you think if he just toned it done a little he could have won? or was being a 3 party guy just doomed from the start? Has the guy talked about running for office again?

No, Tancredo would have won if the Republican party would have dumped the idiot they had (who lied to the party from the get-go) and run Tancredo instead. Yes The Hick got more votes than both combined, but a big part of that is because many Colorado Republicans and Conservatives just stayed home because of the mess.

Now that pot is legal here expect it to get worse.

If they get their gun control fantasies here expect more conservatives to leave thus making it even worse.

Unless the current libtard gun control fetish causes the state to backlash and go red again, I have very little hope for the future of Colorado (soon to be renamed East California).

I also have to take a little umbrage at criticism from someone in Harry Reid's district :p

With Obama's first Democratic convention Denver was flooded with out of state visitors, many from New York and Illinois. They liked Denver so much they decided to move here. Then they told all their Facebook friends to move out here too.

IMO Hispanics are family-oriented. They are deeply religious and they work hard. Many are still trying to get rooted here. Eventually they will become better educated and want their children to have a better lifestyle than they had or could provide. In another generation they will have leveraged the system to build enough wealth and prosperity to catch the eye of the government. At that time, we will see a new breed of conservatives emerging in America.

Tancredo was more popular than the Republican running. And he got more votes. He asked the GOP guy to step down, but he wouldn't, and it cost us the Governor.

That was my point during the election.

Do you think they could use the pot as a tax issue, or focues on get the illegals out?
I think pot passed in big part because of the potential of tax revenue. As for getting the illegals out, I don't see that happening anytime soon. Colorado politics is really divided in 3. Conservatives, Liberals and Libertarians. The libertarians are often open borders types and liberals understand that poor, dependent Mexicans will vote for whomever gives them the biggest welfare checks so the fight against illegals here isn't going to go well.

Can you guys save your state?
That's the $64,000 question. At this point I think there's a slim chance that we can turn it back around (and honestly the push for gun control by the Dems may actually be our saving grace if it brings the conservatives and libertarians together in a huge backlash). I'll be honest, I'm keeping an open mind about Wyoming, Idaho or Utah and keeping an eye on the job market there.

The illegal quotient has a mind set carried with them from mexico where the .gov takes care of it's citizens from cradle to grave. Unlike here (well use to be) where the citizenry actually workd for a living. Not the entitlement mentality has overwhelmed this once great land, rendering it in to an unrecognizable mess of gimme more and I deserve attitudes.

Started happening to my home of Montana back in the '70's when Hollywood discovered the Bitterroot Valley on up to Kalispel. I remeber the night Hank Williams, Jr. got the crap kicked out of him outside the Victor Bar for shooting off his mouth.

In 2000 I was back up there and had some goons from a Hollywood stars ranch around Stevensville attempt to kick us off. We were fishing the river bottom and MT has great fishing laws that allow you to cross fences and property within the flood plain. These dolts told us we were tresspassing and were going to call the cops. So we gave them a phone # to call. The county sheriff's cell phone. We explained that he was our HS buddy and we had not seen him since Saturday at our HS reunion, but he would be glad to come out and explain the fishing laws to them.

MT is not what it used to be since the California, New York millionaire, Democrat (Marxists) Liberal maggots moved in.

So Proud of that post. If the republicans spent a little more time campaigning on college campuses, we might be able to set things RIGHT (hehe). I am shocked that our state is so liberal compared to every other state that borders us (Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas) with the exception of New Mexico. We need to fight to take this state back and change the liberal direction it's going in. Or maybe we could just give allow Bolder to be their own state, kick them out, and we'd be Red again.

The more i ponder his question, the more i realized it always seems to start with this, asked on many web sites.
SO,I'M THINKING OF MOVING TO COLORADO, WHATS THE JOB SITUATION?

Which then brings their wife, with her antigun mentality. The husband (notice i didn't say MAN) wanting to maintain the trickle of vaginal gratuity she grudgingly parcels out, agrees with anything she says, including how horrible guns are. That mentality gets worse after a few weeks here, not having made friends with a lot of "locals". He believes anything she says, out side of her tapping the health club yoga inst, as she finally awakened her true sexuality and is now a full tilt lesbian.

That's how liberalism has seeped in to CO.

That's not true, Hispanics do not come up the economic ladder as much as Whites do. They are a stagnant ethnic group, and will lean toward the Democratic party. Just as Blacks topped out at 10%, with like 5% voting Republican. The more Hispanics, the more Democrats, thats why the Democrats want illegal immigration. Its a race war.See: vdare.com

sad but true they come from very collectivist cultures, whichs breeds a very dominate mentality of depends, most of them have the whole"I did have alot so what is mine is mine, you on the other hand of more then you really need so that is mine"

if you dont believe me look at Texas district in the last election

Obama, on the other hand, won only 32 congressional districts in red states.
20147

Look at the southern most part of Texas....funny how they have the best state in way of laws, taxes, gun rights, every things you think would help Hispanics see the light that Conservtive/limited goveremnt is the path to wealth, liberty, and freedom, yet they have rejected the idea or are too blind to see it...

Factor in the hate for the 2nd Amendment, free markets, freedom of choice, the right to keep the money you make. some people or groups just cant understand and enjoy freedom, they feel some need or right to fuck it up for all everyone else...

I'm from California. So is my entire family that now lives here. They all moved here for a better life.

Every single family member I have votes democrat. They always have and they always will. They came here and they vote the exact same way they did in California. I have tried to educate them but they accuse me of being a biggot and greed monger for supporting the Republican Party. Now they are all shaking their heads and trying to understand why Colorado is becoming California number 2. They are all outraged over the tuition for illegals.

I have tried telling them that this is what happens when you vote for democrats. They refuse to listen.

If this state continues to push through all this crazy liberal bullshit and people continue to elect liberal scum, this state and its liberal wackjob politicians like Ed Perlmutter can go fuck itself. I'll take my family, my money and run like hell. UT, TX and AZ look more and more appealing every day.

I understand why many of you would want to stay and fight since this is your homeland. I've lived here most of my adult life and planted some roots here but my heart is not tied to this place enough to keep me from running like hell when the California libs have taken complete control. Hopefully things change for the better but I do not see that happening.

It's a lost cause.

They always use the same excuse. "It doesn't matter how we vote, the system is broken and only going to get worse. At least democrats care about the middle class and working families, the Republicans just want to keep making rich people even more rich and make port people even more poor."

There are no facts I can bring to make them see the truth. Their perception of reality has been completely distorted and facts are perceived as nothing more than propaganda used by the right to further their agenda and line the pockets of the wealthy.

CO has definitely become CA's little sister. Absolutely sickening. I'm a 3rd generation CO "native". I spent half my life in Texas however and hated everything except the people and it's values. I am mountain-bred at heart, but this is quickly spinning from "God's Country" to "Godless Country." I don't want any part of it any longer but feel completely trapped with all the roots and love I have for this state. It's been a crushing decade.

That same moronic line of thinking moved into Montana starting back in the '70's. Californians moved out of CA and into MT wanting a better, more free life, but continued to vote the same way they had in CA. Then became amazed and outraged that MT started to turn into a high tax, more liberal state. But did not have the brains to see they were the problem.

But hey, I got to see a bunch of Hollywood stars move into the Bitterroot Valley and cause real estate prices to skyrocket and long time residents be unable to afford to live there anymore.
