Can a .50 BMG belt fed upper be built?

It would weight a ton and not sure a AR lower would be big enough to handle it. I would just like a 7.62 belt fed upper, the 5.56 belt fed uppers are fairly bulky. I just order one and would love if they had a 7.62 version.

I think the best you will find in the 50 bmg is the T2 mag fed upper.

I would say not a chance in hell. The 50 BMG uppers are all bolt action for a reason. The BMG gas system would be huge and then you have to have a buffer system to handle it and the recoil that I would say even if you were able to fit the buffer system on the lower the lower would have so much stress that it would probably crack where the tube mounts.

There is good reason why the 50 BMG belt fed devices are built out of very thick gauge steel, and the barrel to support rapid fire of a 50 BMG also would be heavy as hell. If you have ever held or shot a Barrett 50 semi auto you will know the kind of weight I am talking about and that unit is only semi auto. The 50 Belt fed devices are tripod mounted because of the weight and recoil.

T2 is on 5.56 lower.

T2 is a bolt action upper and the Mag feeds from the side. Nothing like a Belt fed or semi auto .50 BMG.

Maybe using a RND lower (408 or 50bmg) lowet that could handle it.

Think HK of the trigger packs. Don't use the AR/M16 as anything other than the trigger hammer assembly.

Kinda like the XMG belt fed upper by BRP Corp.

That's what I'd think as well. Someone might be able to build something, but the AR15 lower wouldn't serve much purpose other than the fire control group.
