Trigger Time 23

I have a Remington 700 P which I would like to have the trigger set to 2 lbs and I have a few questions.

Is the trigger on this rifle adjustable to the 2 lbs?

If it is adjustable is this something I can do myself? I have read a lot of stuff on the internet about adjusting the 700 trigger and it seems simple, but am I asking for trouble?

Would it be better to just replace the factory trigger with an aftermarket Timney?

If I have a gunsmith adjust the current trigger roughly how much would it cost?

Thanks for everyone's help.

This is a picture of the current trigger.

Timney or Jewell.
Don't even waste your time on the stock trigger.
PM me and we will get you squared away.

Bert has installed timney 510 triggers in 2 Rem 700Ps for me and they are great. A huge improvement over the factory triggers.

Is there any real point in buying an expensive 700P when you can get a straight 700 SPS for about half the price? Especially when you have to buy an aftermarket trigger unit?

Yes, the stock is an extreme upgrade from the SPS and does not need to be changed out, they come with an HS Precision stock that is real nice.

ETA: If you get an older pre X-mark trigger they can be tuned great without the expense of an aftermarket trigger, disagree that you have to go aftermarket for a good trigger.
