I got this from a family member back in New Hampshire...Just sharing...and also wondering if anyone else has seen this info here from the ATF in Colorado?

GREAT NEWS VIA, THE WHITEFIELD VILLAGE GUN STORE---A few people have asked me about what impact the new executive action will have, especially regarding background checks. I have already seen the new ATF directive that will be mailed to all FFL dealers. Basically, it simply suggests that dealers encourage private sellers of firearms to use them to perform background checks for them if they want to do that when they sell a gun. It reminds dealers to enter the guns in their books, have the new buyer fill out a 4473, do the background check, and then take the gun out of their books. In other words, it says nothing. There are no mandates in any of the executive orders, just suggestions. The new semi-automatic firearms and magazine bans won't be introduced to the House until the spring. Both House and Senate leaders have already indicated that, in its current form, there's no way the proposed bans will ever get majority support. The awful Feinstein bill, which helped provoke the current gun buying panic, seems to be DOA with virtually no support.

lol so it really was nothing new. figured at least there would be a new rule to run a check on a firearm you had not taken possession of.

This opens the whole rats nets for the FFL. Why would they enter something into their books that the buyer mail fail a check for, then they'd need to turn around and do a check back on the seller who may also fail a check.

BTW, love your logo. I was reading Dune the other day, and there's a great line in it. "Humans must not submit to animals," in the context of most people fail at being human.

That's a darned good question - I'm pretty ignorant regarding FFL's and their processes.

I'm really interested in hearing from FFL's here in Colorado regarding this info in order to verify its authenticity. Not that I don't trust my family....Just that he may have received bad info and is forwarding it on.

ATF notices get sent out to FFLs regularly. I am skeptical of a "new" one already containing information related to BOs 23 EOs less than 2 business days after signature.

To date ATf has not seen or issued one updated notice pertaining to transfer / sale/ or anything else FFL related. be it OTC , intra or inter state.
