No import lic for one, is the parts kit correctly demilled as per ATF guidelines? BUT......... if you want to have a go at it be my guest. You know a little searching on line has lots of information available to anyone who looks.
With that being said. Even if you can "import" a parts kit, Customs has the final word regarding it being released in to the country. Way back when (89) this shit went on where the ATF was holding up Norinco AK's and other items pending conformity to the current ATF regs. The then put the burden on customs regarding the release of them in to the US. Each side said the other was responsible for holding up release of the guns, ammo and parts. When in fact neither side was going to allow release of them from the beginning. However at that time FAC and other business raised a stink AND LAWYERS to fight the . bureaucracy, finally getting them released.
There are a great many items that cannot be imported into the US. These include 'armor piercing' ammo, high-capacity magazines, and so-called 'assault weapons'. Please contact your FFL to make import arrangements and verify the legality of the item you are attempting to import before placing a bid on an item.
If the item is not a firearm (such as scopes, holsters, etc.) then the item can be sent into the US without any special importation procedure other than filling out a standard US Customs form.
There is a great deal of additional information on the ATF web site (http://www.atf.gov/firearms/index.htm).
Here's more.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has determined that the language of 18 U.S.C. ยง 925(d)(3) permits no exceptions that would allow frames, receivers or barrels for otherwise non-importable firearms to be imported into the United States. Accordingly, ATF will no longer approve ATF Form 6 applications for importation of any frames, receivers, or barrels for firearms that would be prohibited from importation if assembled. No exceptions to the statutory language, for example for “repair or replacement” of existing firearms, will be allowed.
Since the ATF cannot determine your "intent" of the parts in question, you may run in to problems. The money you save buying one from overseas will not be worth the hassle of red tape, if not outright denial of delivery. But who knows you might score big
thanks jim i did a google search but didnt turn anything up.......thats super gay my dreams of retiring off a shipping container full of mags has been crushed :(
I was thinking that part kits being imported for repair and replacement of guns you own already. If you could get a bunch of barrels almost bare maybe needing 20% to get them ready for a replacement I don't see them having a problem. But don't quote me. I know the guns that they say can't be imported because they were not made here can be made here in the same configuration with the right amount of American Made parts.
But it might be worth a look or two. Just to ask it shouldn't hurt. They might just need to be cut to shit per ATF specs.

Unless you have a mfg ffl AND a hook up with an importer not even worth trying. You guys missed the first 2 import bans. Some board members on arfcom, falfiles and GT all were thinking the same thing. All of them found out one way or another, without the correct paperwork, NOTHING is coming in to the US. AND Customs inspectors are not very gun friendly, even less so when "prompted" by federal LE's for "advice"

Jim, who is this ARZ you speak of?
I think you can import them. No receivers and No barrels. Parts should be just fine. Reciever needs to be demilled correctly and the barrels need to be demilled correctly.
Jim is talking about the actual receivers and barrels. With that he is correct.
I'm doing some research and it appears that parts should be fine but then I keep hearing about a form 6 that MAY be required if the value exceeds $100.
To be honest your probably better calling the nearest ATF office and asking them directly and make sure to tell them that these parts are NOT the receiver, frame or barrel.

It also goes for the cut up kit as well. You still have to fill out a form and hope it goes through.
A few guys I know that were stationed overseas tried and got denied import and the parts were demilled according to and beyond atf requirements....

Board member who listed ak parts kits in the P&A trading post section.
One more thing you need to concern yourself with is reliability of seller overseas and what recourse you have if they "don't deliver". OR your items "get lost" in transit. You think dealing with usps, ups, or fedex is a horror show when a package goes missing GFL.
Just tell them you are going to sell them to Mexican drug cartels and the ATF will make you import them.
