Taking Hunter Safety tomorrow and the course description says "rifles and ammunition for the live fire will be provided. No personal firearms allowed."

Does that include CCW? I didn't think so but don't want to assume.

Correct. However your instructor is the final answer.

It is standard policy for any training course to not allow live ammunition, or personal firearms. To many guns getting handled to have to worry about a live cartridge getting in the mix.

For our CCW and other firearms courses (and any other I have seen), no Live Ammo is allowed. Doesn't matter if you are a current CCW holder coming for renewal, Cop, Sheriff, FBI, Military.

So pretty standard to have strict firearms policy for classes.

Not exactly.

The policy of Colorado Hunter Education is that for the live fire portion of the course, students use rifles and ammunition provided by the instructors/Division.

You can ask the particular instructors ( and if its Brighton Rec Center, that's me) but what we don't want is people bringing their own .22's thinking that is what they can shoot during that portion of the course.

It's at the Colo Wildlife facility on Broadway. I figured it was that reason but didn't want to take a chance. Then again, I'm sure there won't be metal detectors.

The Hunter Education building in the Broadway campus does not have metal detectors.

Unless you will plan on pulling your CCW weapon, I doubt it will be an issue. I'm going to the Broadway campus on the 26th I think. Let me know how it was!

That statement is so people don't bring their own firearm for the shooting portion. Two years ago I sat though my older son's class and just last week sat through my others son's class, both times I was carrying.

About 6 years ago I sat through my twin daughters' class. I was carrying, no issue. The class used CDOW's .22's for the live fire.
