View Full Version : Where to find .22 ammo
So long story short- Bought my Fiance a Browning 22 pistol so she can get used to a pistol. And luckily she actually likes the gun (totally stoked about this.) But I am unable to find ammo around the Alameda and Havana area. Anybody in the area that can help out? I am at wits end trying to find the stuff. Never thought it would be hard to find 22 ammo. But I stand corrected.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx
Walmarts, Big 5's, Sports Authority's, etc.
Looked all those places. Finally was able to find two boxes at Big5. Thx for the info...

SGAMMO.com had some Eley Sport 22 lr for 279.95 per case. Big R here in Trinidad has a ton of Remingotn Subsonic, but it is $40 a brick.

Cherry creek range had some.
Hit your local walmart after 10 pm. That seems to be when they stock it near me.

Seriously. Think about this. 22LR is the most common rifle AND pistol round, not self-sustainable, and the machines are not as flexible as centerfire cartridge producing machines. I'm pretty sure rimfire cartridge machines are caliber specific, but I know there are considerably fewer than the centerfire machines. Once the warehouses were out, good luck finding it regularly for at least a year or more.
I haven't had less than 5k on hand since 2010. No, it's not for sale. Two years ago you could by cases of this stuff. History repeats itself...

I am sitting on about 4500 rounds but still frustrating.

They won't sell it to you after 10pm though.

any guesses as to whether this is still accurate? I have a bit, but I love me some 22 ammo.... never thought it would start selling at $100 per brick at gun shows.....

I might try to head out there this weekend.
I've seen $40-60 on Cologunmarket
Saw it at the Loveland show Sunday. The cheapest was 555 for $75. Yes, it was selling.

I've got some friends that own a gun range and they say their cost hasn't increased, just demand has gone up. They are one of the few not gouging their customers. Then again, they don't have anything in stock any more either. They couldn't believe it when I showed them a picture of a brick of Remington Golden Bullets (22) for $99.

Big 5 on Kipling says if you show up early on Monday mornings that is when they get their freight in and people can wait in line for ammo.
There is also a new Wal Mart on 44th that just opened, but they had no 22 when I was there. They only had .40 so I bought that.

Don't worry. The same $65 per 1k primer sellers will be able to fill your 22 needs, for $75 a pop, in the TP, wednesday afternoon.. Hey Gas has gone up, you don't expect anyone to sell at a loss do you.

yeah, except the cost of buying ammo from the manufacturer hasn't gone up a dime. Distributors/resellers are cashing in on the panic and making way more profit than usual, not the loss you might suggest...

Bear Arms in Windsor (yes, it's a trek for you alright) had a bunch of CCI 22lr as of yesterday.
I still don't get why there is a run on 22LR!!

I don't think there will be a rush on these.
Are they actually moving any of their stock at these prices?

Not from me. But I might not have any choice if things don't break soon. I think once all the bills get voted on and assuming things go in our direction it will get better. Well........one can only hope.

Almost everything has conversion kits for .22LR, good hunting round for small game, and it is still an effective round vs. 2 legged targets.
The local walmarts in the Denver/DTC areas have been getting in 550 round boxes with some regularity, and they were pricing them at $49.99 last lot I saw in the Highlands Ranch walmart.

You know things are bad when even Wal-Mart is price-gouging...
