Is my wife's problem. She refuses to shoot left handed, says it feels too weird. Any other options?

close the left eye...

I have the same issue in reverse. After a number of years I can now shoot with both eyes open and "choose" the picture I want to use, but it takes time. Try some opaque tape on the dominate eye, her mind will pick up the right image but her left eye will not get tired from squinting. This is pretty common to do with highpower and small bore shooters, even when not dealing with cross-dominance.

Im the exact same. For pistol, I just get my left eye behind the sights. For rifle, well I need an optic. If shooting irons, I have to close my dominant eye

Same here. With rifle I just do the best I can with an optic (even close my dominant eye with a red dot). My weak eye is not correctable either so I'm hosed.

I have the same thing-I shoot my long guns left handed because to me it's more comfortable to line up with the left eye dominance. Pistol I shoot right handed and line up with dominant eye.

Remember don't let righty hold you down!

Put tape over the left eye of her shooting glasses. There won't be as much eye strain as trying to keep the dominant eye closed. I am the same as above. Long guns left hand, pistol and bow right handed.

Train, train, train. I wouldnt force her to switch hands because if its uncomfortable for her and she doesnt like it theres a possibility she will start to turn sour on shooting and not want to do it at all. Let her do waht is comfortable for her, or even seek out someone else to work with her and give her some extensive training.

Tape on the goggles is a great idea, turning your head, or adjusting your stance a little bit are other options.

We work with this issue in all of our classes and help folks all the time. While this is a very common issue its also very easy to over come.

And for the record, both J and myself are cross eye dominant so we have some good experience with it.

I am cross eye dominant, after 2 days of appleseed i was getting over it but I would work up a serious headache compensating. Tape on the glasses works wonders.

My wife is the same way. Her shots always land to the left... There are two options:

1) Use Kentucky windage and learn the holds to the right. Its good enough for quick pistol work but it becomes very frustrating when trying to do anything precision.
2) Have her turn her head to the right slightly (like on a swivel don't tilt the head or change the chin level) - it will force the left eye to line up a little better and push the aim in the 'correct' direction.

Option 2 has helped many many people.

Cross dominant here as well. Here's what I do.

Pistol: I move my head to the right (kind of tucking my chin into the shoulder) to line my sights up with the dominant eye. Both eyes open.
Carbine with red dot sight: Aimpoint with no parallax. Both eyes open.
Carbine with iron sights: Close left eye just enough to force right eye to compensate.
Rifle with iron sights: Same as carbine.
Rifle with scope: Close left eye completely.
Grenade: Look, throw, duck. Both eyes open, big smile.

The upside to cross dominance is that when she starts to train support side the transition is somewhat easier.

YMMV

Cross dominant. Lucky enough to have good vision in both eyes. Used to fire everything left handed until I got so tired of having hot brass fly by my face that I forced myself to start shooting right handed. I still fire anything that's not semi-auto lefty, at least until my shoulder gives out because my buddy slips some max power loads into the .454 without telling me. The trick with the tape is great.

had all the kids take the hunter's safety course this month. two of them are cross dominant, instructor insisted they shoot left, they have all been shooting right for years with no issue. my son is a crack shot with an ar and iron sights using cross eye sighting.

We used to use blinders when I was on the rifle team -- small piece of black cardboard or foam that blocked the left eye so you didn't squint through the rear sight but your left eye didn't affect the shot. You could do something similar just by making a cover for the left lens of her shooting glasses.

My grandson is like that, right handed/left eyed, but I got him into shooting rifles left-handed at a young age, so it's natural to him now.
