Hey Guys/Gals,

I have a few weapons and recently have become more interested in firearms in general.

Joined this forum to get the local Colorado viewpoint and info around the area.

I've been shooting since I was young with a .22 pearl handeled revolver that my dad gave me. We would go out along devils backbone and plink away with it and some other small pistols and rifles. Needless to say I have always had a respect and enjoyed firearms. I give my dad all the credit for teaching me from the beginning that guns are a tool that can be used for good and bad. They are a ton of fun also!

Since buying my first home I've kept a short mossberg pump 12 gauge for home defense. Taken my wife out to shoot since She didnt have the opportunity that I had to be taught in a comfortable environment about firearms safety. She has said that she feels much more comfortable at home when I'm gone on business trips with the shotgun there and I do too. She gets a refresher at least once a year so she knows she can handle it if she has to.

I believe that everyone should have to go to a gun safety course as part of registering for the draft on their 18th birthday.

Welcome. I couldn't agree more about the safety course in conjunction with registration, although I believe that a safety course at a younger age would be better, say 14-16 with the right supervision of course.

I could not agree more. Unfortunately it seems like kids are either educated about firearms or are completely clueless. It would be great to say by the age of 12 all kids have had a supervised, safe and fun learning experience, wouldn't it?! At least when they're registering for the draft, that's an obvious age that adult hood is being thrust on them. What better time to ensure that everyone has had a basic safety introduction and can at least say they have fired a weapon.

ah, this is a crazy world
