Can anyone recommend a good place in the springs to have my receiver engraved?

i used a trophie shop off of ford st. cant remember the name i want to say it has 1st in it though. guy was really cool and happy to work on a gun. i had it done on the side because he didnt feel good about putting it under the trigger gaurd like some of the guys on here have. i think carey h just used the same guy maybe he will remember the name.
I like the idea of engraving the trigger guard. I actually spoke to the ATF guy who will be handling my Form 1. He suggested I engrave the barrel(s), that way if I ever wanted to sell the receiver it wouldn't turn off a buyer because my info is marked on it. I'm going to ask him about the trigger guard...
I used the same guy shrapmetal did on my SBR. I would not engrave the the barrel, the only thing you are registering is the lower reciver.
TT a guy named Max in the Firearms Technical Branch today about engraving stuff. Basically reconfirming what we already know, it has to be on the main body of the receiver itself in an easy to see place (can't be on the trigger guard). I asked about using initials for my name, or parts of my name, and you can't do that either, it must be your full name. You can abbreviate city and state, using what the post office would acknowledge as a guideline.

I called them when I was engraving my first SBR and the guy at the ATF told me that I COULD abbreviate my first and last name, just not my last. I went the revocable trust route, so I also had to add the word "Trust" behind my last name (my trust's name is the same as my full name). So this might be where the abbreviations CAN be used. I talked to a fella named Anton.
Who knows though, it seems like you get a bunch of conflicting answers from these guys. Even in writing, some of their stuff doesn't always match up.
Indeed, seems like every person I speak with there tells me something different.

i didnt meen on the trigger gaurd itself, but on the frame next to where the trigger comes out of the reciever. that way its hard to see without flipping the gun over
Thanks again guys for pointing me to First Choice Awards...wifey is dropping it off for engraving today.

They couldn't get through the coating after like 11 passes...aparently they tried a more agressive bit and had to stop because it started to chip. I'm going to take it to Colorado Laser Marking to see if they can fix it.

Doh, hope it wasn't damage to badly.
I just picked it up and dropped it off at the laser engraving place. I'm glad the other guys who recommended First Choice Awards had good luck there, but they screwed up my new receiver nicely. Apparently they tried to use some sort of agressive bit as a last resort and put a big gouge on the first letter. The person at the laser engraving place couldn't understand why they chose to do what they did...anyhoo, the laser place is going to try to fix their blunder and the lady at First Choice said they would cover the cost, she even asked how much the receiver cost...we'll see. If the SBR paperwork wasn't such a pain, I would have asked them to replace the receiver.

wow, sorry that happened. what kind of finish do you have on your gun? the job they did for me came out nice and clean, but my finish wasnt anything special.
No worries brutha, it's just a standard Double Star receiver.

Just came across this old thread - any updated recommendations on an engraver?
Thanks.

buy a dremel
Thanks, but I don't trust myself with something like this. I ran some searches and found this engraver in Arvada. Looks like he does some incredible work!
