Second Amendment doesn't become obsolete in a few years. So I think its a good safe bet to get it instead of the phone.

BTT I'm not seeing the signatures on there that I should be. Don't you want to see my petition beat out a anti gun one? Everyone who doesn't sign has to pay for someones Obama phone.

I would sign it, but it has way to many grammar mistakes and makes us look ignorant. Fix those and I'll sign.

They want me to have a joint phone call with them. And they want a "progressive" talk about how they can get more petitions to succeed. I need more signatures plus they have a recorded phone call they wanted me to listen to. Check it out fellow leftist friends.

To actually strengthen the 2nd, you have to draft up a damn good amendment, get 2/3rds majority in both houses and get 38 states to sign it.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but that's the score. Petitions don't mean jack.

Blah blah blah....no. I will not listen to MoveOn.org ramble.

I thought it was good to hear them conspire to have people from other countries sign the petition. If you ever wanted to know the enemy is all.

I'm just loving a leftist gun grabbing org like move on to hosting my petition and if I get enough signatures to have them send it to the president and the senate. Its good from propaganda for our side I think? However, you are right it don't mean nothing.

I was thinking about getting a petition to have 20% of the house and senates salaries donated to ammunition fund for the poor gun owners of America. For target practice.

They are having a group call soon. We should all sign up to get into the call and heckle the shit out them. But no that would be sinking down to their level. Never mind.

I honestly don't think this is going to do any good, as others have mentioned. The intent of the 2A is pretty damn clear , especially when taken in context with the rest of the Constitution and DoI, and doesn't need modification. And as other threads have pointed out, there is extensive legal precedent which reaffirms that (as if it actually needed reaffirming).

I think what it would take to accomplish what I believe is the intent is someone running the gauntlet and directly challenging/defeating the NFA in it's entirety, which I think is possible. Based on my (limited) knowledge on the topic, this could happen either through the legislature (extremely unlikely), or by someone fighting for their freedom after being convicted for illegally possessing a select-fire weapon. That would involve lots of time, shit-tons of money, and in order for it to have any chance of working, the person defending themselves would need to be a pretty upstanding person, weapons charges notwithstanding....

This has me thinking of something I noticed recently that hadn't occurred to me before, but many (read: most) of the grievances against the crown which are enumerated in the DoI have been and are currently being inflicted upon the citizenry

just my 2ยข

From the "Petition Background":
"I feel that the Second Amendment has been weaken to (DOUBLE INFRACTION SHOULD BE "weakened too") much as it is and would like to see it strengthened by having any law to do with any firearm, sidearm, shotgun, machine gun, tanks, missiles(NEEDS A COMMA HERE) limited to a 5 megaton nuclear warhead, and alien weapon be repealed and made illegal to restrict now and in the future. There is no need for gun control any longer(PERIOD SHOULD BE IN HERE) it (COME ON _ CAPITALIZE THE FIRST WORD OF A SENTENCE......) has proven to be ineffective and harmful to children. How many more people have to die before we realize that the Second Amendment could have saved us if we were only allow to exercise it."

Yeah, the really bad grammar and punctuation make you (us) look like backwater hicks "bitterly clinging to our guns". Way to go - now they have this to share with their progressive friends.

And this: "tanks, missiles limited to a 5 megaton nuclear warhead, and alien weapon" just make you (us) look like complete idiots. <sigh>

Thanks, good intentions, but no. [sorry]

And I'm not saying you are an idiot or anything. But man, REALLY think about what you post on the internet before you actually do it. This looks silly.

Their whole site is a joke. Why not have some fun with it?
I will make the changes to the grammar since it does matter.

DOC

I made those changes and added a few lines if you wouldn't mind going over it again to check for errors. Thanks. As a community we can help each other and fight with those that intend to do us harm and take our property. Fighting amongst ourselves only helps them. But I didn't see your petition so I guess I took the risk and made one of my own.

Sorry Doc. You couldn't spelling and grammar check your petition before posting it? 14 signatures later I can't sign.

Sorry Doc. You couldn't (do) spelling and grammar check your petition before posting it? 14 signatures later I can't sign.

I will change it later to be more serious with grammar checks and spelling checks.
I know its a leftist commie site that decides what is important to them and will delete anything remotely at odds with their views.

Wow! I guess Honey Badger does give a shit.
If all they can bitch about is my spelling then I did what I set out to do. They can't attack it for anything relevant so they become grammar Nazi's.

When or if it gets enough signatures for them to present it to our fearless leader they are going to take one look at it and take it down. It doesn't jive with the leftist dogma of unarmed useful idiots and unarmed unwashed masses.
If I recall correctly the Second Amendment of the constitution isn't the best written sentence in Bill of Rights either. But their heart was in the right place when they wrote it. I'm no forefather but I would like a country of my own so my ambitions are still as high.
I took out the stuff about the nukes so it looks more serious.
