BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Legacy High School was put on lockout Friday morning after the school received a report that two individuals were heading towards the campus with weapons.
The report went out over the Broomfield Police scanner at approximately 11:30 a.m. Adams County spokesperson Jo Ferdani confirmed the scanner traffic, saying a caller informed police she saw two individuals carrying weapons and headed towards to school.
Police had not confirmed the report about the armed students as of noon, but they did say officers were en route to the school, which is located at the intersection of West 136th Avenue and North Zuni Street.
There seems to be an awful lot of school "incidents" going on lately.
/me puts on the tin foil.
FattyHunter lives practically right next door to that school. Hope he didn't go for a walk today. I live a few blocks south.

high tension leads to overreaction.
for all we know it was someone seeing a rifle in the back seat of a car driving in the general direction of the school.
but better safe than sorry after all....
Probably just some workers carying shovels....

I agree in some aspect of that but my concern is there is so much fear out there now, that every time a gun is seen, it'll be "CALL THE COPS!". I'm sure that is exactly what the administration is wanting though. Until all the details (how close were they spotted to the school, what "weapons" were seen, etc), I won't comment more about it. I would like to see citizens being more aware of things going on around them so it's good in that sense. I just hope it doesn't snowball into panic/overreaction 24/7.

Gun free Zone is a shooting gallery waiting to happen.
HOWEVER Those who oppose firearm use for safety will tell you a school is better off with out ARMED SECURITY. Perhaps we need to rethink the seat belt laws.
They're confirming zero substantiation of anything unscrupulous. I bet it was just an overzealous caller.

Probably some recent ex-military that went for his daily run in full battle rattle......and carried a broom stick at port arms because it just didn't feel right without anything in his hands.

That crossed my mind too... today's version of a "bomb threat?". Seriously kids?

What does he think? Any word in the halls about it being a prank call to avoid a test or some crap like that?

Nope, they just in lock down, my brother said they searching everyone's backpack now. He hasn't heard anything too.
Just picked my daughter up from Horizion High school right down 136th so we took a drive past Legacy and saw kids going about as normal and no cops around so it must be over.

I wonder if someone showed up at the school with another giant burrito (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7683168/ns/us_news-weird_news/t/bum-wrap/)!

Seems like it was a threat according to my brother.
Adams 12, like most other Colorado school districts has an armed School Resource Officer (SRO) in every middle and high school.
I hope someone is having a long talk with the RP to determine what exactly they saw and determine whether it was legitimate or not. I-25 northbound was clogged when I crossed going eastbound on 104th around 1:00 p.m.
Be safe.

"Oh, and I have a new nickname now. It's Burrito Boy."
This is what the girls in high school called me too.

No one died. It's not news worthy..
Heaven forbid they run a piece on accuracy in reporting.

If the backpack is in your locker then you are on their terms. If the backpack was in my possession and closed, I would be saying "Get a warrant, my parents on the phone, and while your at it your badge number." I doubt that would end well for the student, but seriously fuck them.

So somebody may have seen somebody carrying a weapon, nobody was shot, nothing happened, we're not sure if any crime was even committed, but a gun was a part of the story so it is now now news worthy? Probably just somebody open carrying or something. Ugh. People these days.

I just talked to a resident that lives right by the school and he said there has been some construction and excavating work being done there this week.
